Sorry if this has been posted before but how do you use the car as a wifi hotspot i.e. Connect my phone to it for steaming music? I am having real issues here and the password which I know to be correct isn't accepted. Pain in the rear!!!

Hi,

I'm assuming you mean Bluetooth rather than WiFi?

You need to pair the car within the MMI to the phone....both may ask you to confirm a Bluetooth passcode before they will connect.

Give me a shout if you're still having probs.

Does the password have any I's l's or 1's that you might be misreading...? Did you set the wifi hotspot password or accept the default one? Might be worth changing it?

I changed the wifi name and the password and I can now connect but I get redirected to a website saying that I must purchase a data plan. I thought it was free for three years with the tech pack advance or am I wrong?

No Bluetooth is fine. Just trying to connect to the wifi hotspot.

That shocking. Very poor from Audi and the wording of anything I read about it from Audi led me to believe that I could use the hotspot.
I thought that the kids could hook in their tablets to it for long journeys. I may look into a data only sim ( if such a thing exists) and put that in as I am not paying those prices.

If it is a facelift I'm not sure you have a choice... Isn't it an "embedded SIM"? So you can't actually put your own in?

There's still a slot to insert your own SIM card. I'm not sure if it overrides the embedded one by default, or you can choose which one to use from one of the MMI menus..?

There is a space for a sim in the glove box. Can that not be used?

Found this:

Customers can reach the online shop of our partner Cubic Telecom through their myAudi account. After a once-only registration, they can obtain the data package for the Wi-Fi hotspot from this shop. Once the required access is granted in the online shop, data packages can be quickly and conveniently purchased directly through the MMI system in the car. Customers may also continue to use their own SIM card in the car and establish Wi-Fi internet access through their own cellular provider. In this case, the data volume used by Audi connect services will also be charged to the customer’s SIM card and the Audi connect SIM temporarily deactivated.

I've got a 3 data only sim (12gb) which I put in the sim slot when the kids need to hotspot. At all other times I eject the sim and use the embedded sim.

Yep it's border line false advertising from Audi...
You need your own SIM to activate the WiFi hotspot and then it takes over the embedded one...

I've just done this, got an EE sim from currys pre loaded with 6GB of data, lasts for 90 days.

When you put the sim in connect your phone to the cars wifi, it takes you to EE registration page and off you go.
