What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

From what I've seen it easy very easy if you have VCDS and know how to work it.
I just don't believe they're glued Mike.
Last year I got a new fob because mine had such an old and worn look and was easy to take the transponder chip out..
In fact the hard part was taking the board inside the key because it had 2 pins holding it.

They have always been glued in the ones I have come across.....hence why I took the plastic emergency key apart.

Fitted four new Nexen N8000's prior to MOT. After I fitted can bus friendly HID's 6000k, everything fitted inside the headlight, they work perfectly and also fitted a new brake/tail light bulb that failed after the MOT.

yea but i got the coded ccm with the wiring loom. so no need to code them. it was removed from an s4 i got everything i needed. ie motors door loom and door panel looms.
Hi mate..
Upon scanning my CCM it shows its faulty.
And probably that's y I couldn't code the new key.
Anyway.
This is something I'd be interested in and would like to know the job involved in replacing all the wiring.
And could you provide with the part number from the CCM coded for electric rear windows?

BTW. I already have the rear door cards, looms and motors fitted..

hi mate will get you the no. of my ccm. to change the main loom is a ****** nightmare. it took me around 2 hours or so to strip the whole of the inside of the car, then another 20 minutes or so to remove the lom. as it comes in 2 parts. but is all interlinked at the dash panel end. so not a 5 minute job. but will keep you updated when i get to do it.

Work in progress but getting there

Had a spare mini voltmeter that I have been meaning to fit, so got hold of a frame which is used by cars with front parking sensors, trimmed a couple of blank switched and grafted them together to make up the gap difference and put all together.

Plastic welded the meter to the frame

Just waiting on a 12v step down adapter to come as the meter is 5v, and a few finishing touches still to come.

Nice mod, gone are the days of the standard voltmeter on Audi's.

On another note, I fixed my pi**y hissy radio reception today, man that got on my nerves so much! I used this guide
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...plifier-fix-Radio-Reception-Key-Fob-Reception
Hey mate..
Did you follow every step or did you do something different.?
I just done this and didn't improve anything.. Car still the same.?
This ****** me off so much I can't even explain..

Love it!

Just wondering where are you taking the feed from for the power?

Gona add one to my ashtray soon so wondered where to tap in.

Ok.. Good.. I heard those motors are 70 quid a piece..

From the stealer they are, but that's why they are called stealers :whistle2:
I enquired about a headlight switch (£75) and a climate control unit (£750). Thought I'd look for a good used one instead as it's only being replaced be cause of button fade.

No way I would've paid that..
The switch are 20 quid on ebay and climate control unit do t even need to be replaced..
There's stickers you can just put on top of your buttons and they'll look brand new..
Mine don't need it yet..

For the sake of £50 for both parts I'd rather replace and then I'll sell the working units for pittance. I'm ham fisted so stickers will end up stuck on windows, the roof, wheels knowing me! but yeah, never will I pay £750 for a climate control unit, Audi are taking the jimmy riddle there!

I bent the pins that contact the rear screen as fitting the small clips actually push the amplifier further from the rear screen. A few attempts to improve reception and it's much better than it was. Once the clips were fitted I removed the metal handle part. I also used a folded piece of cardboard to support the amplifier at the end with the connectors, mine only had one crack and it was one inch from that end.

This is the clips I used http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141579099...49&var=440720343972&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

If you pinch the handle towards the middle it comes off.

All fitted and working. Quite happy with the finish

If you get a Climate control unit off eBay make sure it's a b6 one as the b7 one is different. The b7 one has no relay for the rear heated window so it won't work and I think if you change the unit you will have to code it to work aswell. If you find a cheap b7 unit with good buttons you can swap the face plate and buttons over to your unit you already have

Thanks mate, I had heard you need to code it in, how ridiculous! Might get a cheap one that I can change the buttons on instead, I don't have VCDS yet and I got a fair bit I need to do to the car so it will be likely needed at some point!

I've bought rear S4 bumper to compliment the front.

And planning to get the 1.8T exhaust.. perhaps changing the tips for some larger ones..
The stock 1.8T is about 65mm ??
How big are the stock S4's??

Can someone please verify that an 1.8T stock cat-back fwd exhaust will fit a fwd TDI avf ?

I've read it should, but need 110% verification before I'll go buy it and try to fit it

Took it on the lift to preview my plan..

Can see I need to remove some covers in order to make the 1.8T exhaust fit..

Besides the hangers and brackets for the extra muffler, do I need anything else further up the line??

Heat shield and associated nuts/washers for the extra box.

I reset the needles with the help of the Torque app on Andriod & a bluetooth ODB device , by this I mean I used the torque displayed values and adjust the needles by hand to get the correct readings .... There is more than likely a much better way to to this, but it worked for me.

The needles are a git to get off, you need a lever either side & apply pressure equally to pop them off their pins .

Grab a fork, yep the type you eat your food with, open up between the 2 middle forks and you have a perfect needle remover.

Today I picked up everything I need to do a full service bar some coolant and gearbox oil

Also fixed my key, only needed a new battery but it's great having the remote working again! The little things eh?

On a side note does anyone know if G13 coolant supersedes G12 and is ok to use in the B6? Everything I've read suggests so but wondered if any gurus thought different?

G13 will do fine and mix with G12
