Guys, Is there an option (hidden somewhere) to turn off the daylight running lights on my A4 Avant 2012. I've searched the forums but there doesn't seem to be a thread on it. Thanks in advance.

No is the sort answer, something to do with an EU rule requiring all cars built after 2012 to have them on all of the time.

You can on my 61 plate! And I'm sure you can with VCDS but not sure why you would want to?

you can turn them off in vcds upto 2011 ,not sure on a 2012 not had to use a diagnostic tool on one

I know it's an old thread, but has anyone an idea how to code a B8.5 so all lights will be off when engine running and light switch in off position? I want to be more stealthy when parked up with the heater on!

I didn't have the option to turn off DRL's on my 2014 A4, after messing around with them on Carista, the option to enable/disable DRL's was added to the car settings menu. :)

Just come in from sorting it with vcds, put the DRL on/off option on the car setting menu, thanks

EU ruling was in the 2nd quarter of 2009. However, DRL's can be turned of using either VCDS or Carista. Why would you want to turn them off?

Also, rear lights can be activated as DRL's too as by default they are switch of in the UK, on in other European countries. I activate my reas as its much safer.

I have rears on as drl as well, safer and looks sexy

If it's led rear lights yeh, looks nice! Mine are normal halogen rear lights and does not look sexy in day light, unfortunately!

My car is a 2015 S-Line and it was simply a question of selecting Byte 3, Bit 0 "Daytime Running Lights adjustable via MMI/Car menu. Then the MMI indeed has the choice of DRL ON or OFF in the Exterior Lighting menu.

I need to be able to park my car with all lights extinguished and the engine running. I do not drive it on the highway with DRL off.
