Rear Wiper won't turn off, fuse 43 keeps blowing....

Hi Guys,

Can't get my head round the above issue, first my rear wiper packed up due to the mechanism being old and worn, so I replaced it with a genuine Valeo rear unit and everything worked perfectly.

Two weeks later my wife told me her rear wiper was permanently on and it wouldn't turn off!, and her front/rear washer sprays were not working. I did a little investigation and rattled a couple of relays near the central electrics module, checked the fuses under the bonnet and finally checked the fuses at the side of the drives dash and found that fuse 43 had blown which is the power supply to the rear wiper motor and the front/rear washer pump.

I put in a new 15A fuse tested sprays / rear wiper motor and all was well, turned the engine off. Following morning car battery was flat and after jump start rear wiper was going again + sprays were not working - fuse 43 blown!

To eliminate the new rear wiper motor I had fitted week earlier I disconnected it (on the actual motor) and then replaced the fuse in 43, started the car an it blew instantly. Next step will be to disconnect the front/rear dual washer pump and test again.

Can anyone else think what the problem my be, could it be a frayed or snapped wire in the boot loom near the hinges, I've already had one like this on the front drivers door?

Also thinking a Central Electrics module issue?

Thanks Lee, yes bad scan which makes me think it could be a CE module issue?

I know about the antenna fault which is from the RNS-E install but previously the rest was clear.

Ok, finally found out what the problem was, it was an issue with the wiring harness under the O/S headlight where the harness goes down to the washer pump, there is a horizontal section of harness under the headlight and a bracket which supports one of the air con pipes, the harness has been rubbing against it and managed to wear through the protective sheath and bite into the red/green wire which is the washer pump feed, this explains the blown fuses and now I've re-insulated the fuse does not blow and all is well.

Can't believe this has happened really, this is the second wiring issue with this car and the only car I've ever owned with wiring issues, was was a ****** to find but got there in the end!.
