Take my hat off to Mike for what he's achieved but as bill says I would have most certainly wanted a girdle and even Billet caps at that level!

I do like the way that the Americans run the tray under the motor to catch everything as well when racing!

:sign omg::sign wow: Thats some serious carnage. I suspect the next engine will have some extra support and it won't be made by Playtex. At least the head looks undamaged.

I think that might need a bit more than tube of super glue.

Shame they the devils own work to fit properly...

After seeing first hand the mains caps go on Bills engine this is clearly the next point of failure on 1.8t's...

The price for line boring certainly shocked me when I first enquired, although they do seem to vary a bit.

The caps do seem like the next weak link with Bill and Mark Moorby seeing them fail. I suspect a girdle will reduce the failure of them by limiting flex between the two main studs, but without a doubt the taller billet main caps with girdle are the ultimate solution. But wow watch them £ notes fly away

Awesome performance right up until the point where it self destructed. I presume by the reduction in ET on that last pass something had been tweaked that pushed it over the edge. Great design of undertray that looks like it kept most of the parts/ oil on the car and not strewn down the track.

Totally FUBAR'd but as you say, predictable up to a point.

Drag engines aren't always built for longevity.

1000bhp though...Mmmmmm!

He's very conservative with power figures too. I would suspect in excess of 1000hp and he has ran crazy amounts of boost.

I like his style

I may be wrong but it looks like he filled the block water ways to strengthen it for high boost?

He had cermented/hard blok'd the bottom end, pretty sure was only partially done but can't remember.

Been looking into hard blok, some people have managed to partially cement blocks and be able to use them on the road still with enough cooling capacity.

Can't wait to see his next incarnation of it

Actually saw this engine on Facebook a few days ago or something...in a Opel(or Vauxhall as you guys call it) owners group, while the poster was laughing at VAG engines are ****. Wellwell, good job with destroying an engine that bad, medal in itself :respekt:
