Both the front and rear passenger doors will not open from the outside on my B8 when it is unlocked so I'm going to order new door lock mechanism's. Has anyone fitted these recently? Removing the door card is pretty straight forward but what about the mechanism itself? Any advice and tips will be appreciated! Cheers.

Your sure it's the locks? Have you had it scanned. Could be control unit

Got the same issue on my avant rear passenger door think the locks about £100 from TPS.

Forgot to mention the car was scanned about 4 months ago when it was in for a service at an Indy garage who confirmed faulty locking mechanism in both passenger doors and they quoted over £300 to replace them but as the fault was intermittent at the time I chose not to go ahead with it. Mike from Parts requests has quoted £192 for two locks.

I havent fitted them myself but I had one replaced under warranty. It only took them a hour so cant be that hard to do.

I fitted my drivers side mechanism, pretty straight forward really, took me around 1:30hrs on the first attempt, turned out I had the wrong unit, but only took a hour on the 2nd attempt

I'm going to TPS later to order one for the rear door on the Avant as little one is nearly able to reach the handle from inside. The child locks not on at the moment or I wouldn't be able to open the door so needs must on this job.

This morning I paid the £192 for the front and rear locks :-/

Fitted mine earlier bit fiddly as never taken the door panels off before but all sorted now & child lock back on.
