Greeny's New Motor

Just a couple of updates, had my exhaust brackets fixed so no need for a Miltek just yet I'll keep with the Powerflow and I finally managed to squeeze my car into the workshop at work to have my H&R springs fitted, it's not a huge drop but it's noticeable and the handling is noticeably better and when the wheels get fitted at the end of the month it should look

Just coming off the ramp

Just another little update. I have always thought the S4 Avants should have come with a boot lid roof spoiler so I ordered one off eBay.de (late night beer goggle purchase) for £133 (£250 on uk eBay) and it turns out to be a genuine Audi part (8E9 071 640 K 9AX) which is a winner. I think it is the one that goes with the Vortex kit, it was listed as not fitting S-Line, S or RS models but it fits a treat. One little thing which is very clever of Audi is they have put three little magnets on the underside of the spoiler so you can trial fit it properly before painting. The only thing it's missing according to the instructions is the adhesive to bond it to the boot, but I'll order that tomorrow from TPS.
I'm just trying to decide weather I paint it myself or pay for a professional to do it. I think I'll just go for the later option.
Here it is.

So only adhesive holding it on then ,no bolts?

Yep, just adhesive, but like I say I think this is the Vortex one, which can be purchased as an option on any standard car, the GMBH/s-line one is a slightly different shape and may be fitted with bolts and adhesive.

Thanks, I've got to get mine off at some point as I got a tailgate to replace mine by need the spoiler off the old one.

And how are you finding the rear wiper delete?

You'll have to be very careful when removing the spoiler, they are only made from a very light foam type stuff and the adhesive is very strong.
My OCD hates the wiper delete especially when it rains but I just put the net up between the seats and the boot and just forget about it lol.

Yes, I haven't noticed any difference between this and the original one tbh but it does clear the window better imo

I see its ms design on it aswell ...wonder if they still sell or make vortex front spoiler..anyone know?

Looking awesome. Excited for the new wheels.

I'd say definitely paint the roof spoiler Audi Light Silver like the rest of the car :)

After much deliberation and saving I've finally got wheels on the S4. They are Rotiform SPF 8.5x19 et45 with 15mm spacers on the rear and 12mm spacers on the front so et30 rear and et32 front, with 235/35-19 Falken FK453 all round, with 15mm spacers on the fronts they touched the arch slightly when cornering so hence the 12mm on the front and I've had to remove the screws that hold the arch liners in at the top of the arches. They have had 3 coats of poorboys wheel sealant and some quick wax to keep the brake dust at bay. I love 'em. I've also had a set of genuine V8 badges for the wings.

Got my roof spoiler back from the painters this evening and despite the rain I couldn't wait to get it fitted so I pulled the car into the garage, thoroughly dried and cleaned the boot lid and following the instructions in the Audi adhesive kit (part number 000.071.785.D) I stuck the spoiler down. I think I used a little too much adhesive (got a bit of oozing from underneath), but I can remove that, I was worried about using too little and having it not stick. I left the attached magnets to help position the spoiler but I need not have worried about it not sticking as literally 45 minutes after fitting it it is as solid as a rock. The paint match is superb and I only paid £40 for the paint and I think it looks mint!

Standard bolts are about 28mm long so with 15mm spacers I used 45mm long bolts.

I whipped one of em out earlier and measured, ordered 40mm bolts. I'm running et35 so I'm only gonna run 5mm up front and maybe 10mm out back if I can get away with it?

Should be fine with 40mm bolts. Might be a little tight on the rear with the 10mm spacers. I had a little bit of rubbing on the rear but only on the arch liner and its seems to have sorted itself out now.

I've never been happy with the placement of the S4 badge on the boot of my car after I re-fitted it after de-badging it. So today I ordered a new badge and tried to look up a template for the correct position for the badge but I drew a blank. I found the picture of a car which appeared to have the badge in the correct position, I printed the image and measured the position of the badge on the image, then I measured the cars dimensions and worked out the ratio and marked the position on some masking tape on the boot. It looked about right so I went ahead and stuck the badge on.
It sounds like a lot of work but it was really easy in the end and I'm now happy with the badge position.

Small details............Saloons are easy as all badges follow the bottom edge of the light clusters......not sure where the focus point is on the avants, but suspect it is the bottom line of the number plate recess

Excellent attention to detail on the badge placement Greeny!

I'm going to be getting my original S4 wheels stripped so I can refurb them as winter wheels but I got a tad bored this evening and decided to see how a wheel would look in the wrinkle finish red (left over from my cam cover re-paint) and do you know what............I like it. I'll most probably wimp out and get them redone in silver.

Not done much with the S4 for a while, it's pretty much been un-used since I got a sprinter van as a daily runabout. I spotted the Sportsshifter thread on here and ordered one. The fit and finish is superb and it looks a million dollars.

What weighting did you go for mate? Also what did you choose for your sexond option?

I went with the heavy shifter in ultra suede with an ultra suede gaiter and the a light weight shifter in black leather with a black leather gaiter

Which one do you prefer, the weighted or unweighted shifter?

Well the time has come and I've bought a house so the S4 has to go. Unfortunately the S4 has taken to rattling its cam chains on start up just as I decide to sell it, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to take a big hit on its value. It's on eBay at the moment with a starting bid of £2k to see what happens. The wheels and interior carbon trim are up for sale if anyone is interested. I'll put an ad up in the for sale section.
