I wouldn't bother, the seat base is identical, essentially your paying £700 odd for diamond stitching and a headrest built into the seat...

But if you want a set your best bet would be a scrapyard or someone selling them privately

I've seen this posted before but sitting in the two seats and the seat base on the SSS feels much better - suspect they use a different foam filler and possibly different bracing.

I agree they look far better though - they really add to the overall cabin ambience.

Added to that they don't have the useless and sluggish power settings.

I can feel a repeat of a V8 retort thread :)

The SSS are great and add a great deal to the overall cabin look. I actually think they're an option to have in an Audi S car. Of course they're nothing like bucket seats but that's not their intented purpose.
Also to debunk a misconception and stick to the facts they're not £700 they're £400 considering it''s a £650 option which includes the £250 4-way electric lumbar support option.

Exactly. Although it took ages for this particular penny to drop when I ordered my car. Although I'd spec'd lumbar support from the very beginning, it was only when I was idly reading the small print that I noticed electric lumbar was included on the SSS.

Suddenly it was only £400 to have the SSS in my car and that super sexy cross stitching on the front and rear seats. Relatively speaking it's an Audi bargain, and given how good they look in the S3, almost a must have.

As mentioned the bottom half is just a normal seat.

I like the visual aspect more than giving any grip or advantage over the normal seats.

However the normal seats are much more comfortable so don't be too down.

Also, if you drive other A3/S3's with options you didn't select you're going to feel really down/wanting to change etc but once you get yours you'll forget - I know!

For me the SSS were a 50:50 decision... I had them in an early draft of my spec, but removed them later, as @A3_Rider mentions the base is still the same.

If they changed the design to look like the S4 or S5 I probably would have went for them:

They never featured very high on my options list either. It's come up on here numerous times that there's no discernible difference in comfort and to be honest I thought they made the cabin look more cramped if that makes sense?!!

I do like the design though and the new red stitched jobbies look the nuts!! lol

What's the logic behind that??
I've sat in both and to be fair there's no real difference and you said it yourself: "The base is the same"...
The difference is visual.

I had some worries about them making the cabin more cramped but in fact not at all. And the rock grey stitching is super subtle and super classy in my view.

Similar to @Gordo77 , I had them in my original configuration but for a couple of reasons I dropped them when ordering.
One reason was the salesman himself convinced me there was no major difference other than visually. The test drive car didn't have them and I was happy with the standard ones.
The other was that, given what the salesman said, I couldn't justify spending the extra dosh, which pushed the deal further than where I wanted to be, for something which wasn't as high up my priorities as other stuff.
I may regret this decision if I ever see / experience them in the flesh but too late now.
Really just a personal thing I guess, but they do look fantastic.

Standard seats are fine.
SuperSports are style over function.

The one reason to go for standard (other than saving £400) is that you can have them in Alcantara.
Audi leather is of such poor quality, if I had an option to go Alcantara, I'd have it every time.
Holds you better than leather too.

My TT had alcantara and it certainly holds you in place quite firmly, and it also has quite a nice warm feel about it. I do like having the S3 in full leather tho, the seat bases feel softer... the alcantara in the TT felt very hard to sit on.

And Alcantara is a no-no with kids plus if you''re thinking of going SSS I assume you've made up your mind on going full leather.
Style over function... Yeah we could strip down a car to a bare minimum with this line of thought! lol

Again from the colonies....The Canadian spec for SSS on an S3 will set you back 700 quid over SS. The SS spec includes all leather, electric and also electric 4 -way lumbar support as standard. I liked the look of the SSS but being a Scot, I said "700 quid? naw.

The difference is visual.

By base I meant the base; the bottom part.

The upper part on the normal seat is more comfortable in my experience than the SSS, more of a relaxed feel.

I have to admit that whilst the SSS look good, I reckon the standard SS are more comfortable and I need no enlargement in other departments thanks!

Blasphemy! There's always room for enlargement(!)

But back on topic, I think SSS are worth every penny, even more so when you want lumbar support anyway.

I'm down in bandit country this weekend, I'll be back though! Saying that... Singapore, Canada and Australia could all be on the cards through work in the future. Dunno if I'd be able to leave bonny Scotland though

P.S. It's definitely a trait of aberdonians!!

Nothing wrong with standard sports seats IMHO unless you like the 'anorak' look stitching ;-)

Buy them from Audi, likely a couple of grand at least. Buy them used and risk giving the car thieves some business. Finding seats on eBay, more likely they are stolen than off a genuine accident damaged car.

When I was looking for an S3 the super sports seats were a must have. I'd read and watched reviews that said the standard seats don't hold you very well. Plus the SSS do add something to the interior.

But when I got the car I realised the seat base is just awful. And as others have said looks to be exactly the same as standard sports seats. There's just not enough depth to the seat and not enough bolstering. So you end up sliding around.

Top half of the seat, there's just enough bolstering to lean on when cornering. But nothing compared to the recaro buckets on my previous S3 8P. They were superb.

Also on a 200 mile journey, my backside was numb after about an hour driving. The seat base is just too flat and hard. You're not in the seat, you are on it, if you get what I mean.

For me personally I'm glad I'm not doing long distances in this car.

I get what you mean about the bolstering 100%, I came from these. They properly held you, you definitely sat IN them rather than on them! They were a touch more than the SS seats though at £2400 lol

Cheers mate, was my Golf R32 - sadly gone, was pretty nice yeah - bit harder wearing than the Audi leather I'd say. Bit of a pain getting in sometimes being a short **** lol but they were nice and comfy, drove from UK to Nurburgring with no real breaks from the seat (other than fuel stops) no problems at all.

First had the super sports seats in my last car an S5 and thought they were the most comfortable & supportiver seats I'd had in a car.

Tried the standard seats in an S3 and felt I moved around in them and wasn't quite as snug as I was in the super sport seats.

The extra shoulder wings to make a difference and hold you in that bit better IMO.

For me also, they look amazing so it was a no brainer to get them and so pleased I did.

I regret spec'ing mine. Complete waste of money tbh.

Best seats l have had in cars where in my Honda civic FN2 and the Recaro seats in the Focus ST3.... Focus just wins though the leather was real quality believe it or not worst seats my S3

It was at the top of my list. When you are spending £40k and sometime more on a hatchback, if the interior doesnt look as it should, i.e sporty etc, there is little point in it.

I also think for the differential in money, £400 odd, it is as I say, a no brainer.
