Bonnet release

My bonnet release cable appears to be working, it pops the bonnet. However when pulling the lever out from
The grille it doesn't seem to work.

I've watched a few videos on YouTube but nothing seems all that clear.

Can anyone advise on best method and tools I will need?

To top it off (excuse the pun) the yellow oil low warning picture came on the dash this evening - I've known about ten bonnet for a few weeks haha.
