Engine Mount Refresh

Hi all, currently car is on Stage 1 but plans to go Stage 2+. Just had a full milltek exhaust fitted and noticed there's a lot of banging, rubbing when coming off throttle at high revs etc... I fitted the powerflex dogbone mount insert and this has made a huge difference. However still a bit of banging and it feels like the engine is moving more that it should be.

The car is currently on 150,000 miles but the engine was changed around 60,000 miles ago...would they have changed the mounts?

I want to change all the engine mounts but I don't want any more vibration so going to go OEM, where's the best place to buy? I looked on ECP but it looks like there is only 2?

Iirc only two engine bay mounts. TCP or through Mike on here is your best bet.

Milltek build quality issue is possible, I`ve heard a few complaints of certain sections rubbing on bodywork and damaging the pipes.
They are churning them out and not quality checking them.

I doubt the engine mounts would have been changed. Best thing to do is test your current ones out and see if there is excessive movement. Fitting the dogbone insert is a good move. How is the other end of the dogbone though? The bush on that end can deteriorate badly and cause a big knock when you move off forwards or backwards from a standstill. On my car, it was so worn, that when the bolt was undone, the bush dropped straight out!

Try Mike (@mjr901 ) on here. He can give you a decent price for genuine OEM parts and is great to deal with.

exaggeration aside...Is your car really banging and rubbing? It is nearly impossible to come to an educated solution to your issue. It is always helpful to perform some inspection and trouble shooting prior to asking what's this noise and will a new part fix it. usual culprits are the "dogbone" itself despite a recent change. The milltek needs to be inspected by hand for excess movement as do all the hanging hardware and the connections down the pipes. The strut mounts need to be checked as well as do the drop links and the arb. You want to change the engine mounts but do they really need to be changed. You may be changing from functionng OEM to new OEM for no good reason. It sounds like you are noise averse so staying with oem is likely the best choice for you. In addition, all my engine mounts are aftermarket as well as all my strut mounts. You say you don't want any more vibration. You must then have vibration. Since I don't have really any added vibration but do have increased noise, I am wondering about the dogbone install. Even though a perceived expert installs it does not mean it was expertly installed. Just my 0.02 so don't flame me

No flame ;) Will get the exhaust checked out soon, in the mean time I'll go for new engine and dogbone mount bushes. Strut mounts and drop links all changed recently.

I would recommend 034 Motorsport Mounts. Have them in my car along with a new dogbone mount and HPA 75a puck. Not too much of an NVH increase and its super tight.

The milltek is very close to the rear propshaft dougnut (rubs through the pipe if not careful) and the rear anti roll bar, so check there first.

I'm looking that or ths set. Do you have street or track mounts? Can you write your opinion compared to stock? Was looking their gearbox mount insert too. Prices are good. And by the reviews, great upgrades.

I have street mounts. I didnt go with their lower subframe mounts as most of the reviews show that they give a big increase in NVH over stock.
A lot of people put them in and then removed them (a lot of labour as the subframe is a pain to remove).

I tried a few options for the lower subframe. Initially had an HPA 85a Puck and a bush replacement on the dogbone mount. It was horrible. Removed the bush replacement and replaced with a new OE dogbone mount which settled it down a lot. After 6 months I then replaced it with an HPA 75a puck which is the sweet spot for me.

For a street driven car I think the 034 (or THS im guessing) street density mounts and an HPA 75a Puck is the sweet spot. I also found the Tyrolsport front subframe deadset kit to help tighten things up a lot too.

I was thinking of getting their lower solid insert not complete lower mount. I have powerflex track insert and in terms of vibrations and noise isn't that bad at all. So i thought to replace it with their solution and see if it improves gear shifts since i have smf.
