That is excellent to hear. I've only had mine a week so no idea if it has been done as of yet. I'm collecting parts to make the loom for the LED number plate lights in the morning so I'll enquire.

Ha ha, I have drunk enough coffee at VAG dealerships over the years to fill an ocean! It helps when you're there for work related things. First time as an actual customer last Friday and it's a very different experience!

Audi/VAG appears to be starting with the newer effected vehicles and working backwards. I’ve had several “holding” letters but nothing else. My main concern is that the “software update” will spoil my economy or performance (both of which I find great at present) or cause some injector or DPF issue, neither of which have ever previously been an issue for me. From the posts so far it sounds as if there is no noticeable problem or performance downgrade? Would that be a fair conclusion?

After the update my car wont stay and cruise in 7th as long as it used to it now drops down to 6th much more frequently, very annoying. MPG still appears the same and has the same amount of poke.

I saw that someone else said the gear change can be altered so am going to look into it.

Had the Emission update done and to be honest it is difficult tell any immediate change.

Suppose if it all goes 'T*Ts Up' then least I have it in writing.

Not sure if this has been covered yet but I have registered my details with Slater & Gordon Solicitors who are leading the VW emissions payouts.

Check your Reg here to seenif you have been affected:
https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/emissions/check-your-car.html

Register with Slater & Gordon here:
http://www.slatergordon.co.uk/comme...ation/volkswagen-scandal-legal-investigation/

I got this email about a week ago from Slater & Gordon Head of Litigation as they send out update emails.

It says VW but on their website its for VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda owners.

Good Afternoon,

Since the time of my last update, the House of Commons Transport Committee has published the third report of Session 1016 – 17 entitled, “Volkswagen emissions scandal and vehicle type approval.” This report will make for uncomfortable reading not just for VW, but also for The Department for Transport and The Vehicle Certification Agency.

The Transport Committee concluded that:

  1. VW has deceived both regulators and their own customers on a global scale and shown cynical disregard for emissions limits imposed to protect against dangerous pollutants.
  2. The Department for Transport was too slow to take advice and to decide on whether the actions of VW merit prosecution
  3. The UK regulator, the Vehicle Certification Agency, failed to undertake testing to demonstrate that the defeat devices installed by VW were unlawfully used to circumvent European emission tests. The VCA instead simply confirmed the existence of a defeat device and did not prove that without them vehicles would have failed emissions tests. The Transport Committee heavily criticised the VCA for, in effect, only doing half its job.
  4. VW’s treatment of customers in Europe, compared to its treatment of customers in the US is deeply unfair, on the basis of providing goodwill payments in the US only.
  5. VW has communicated poorly with customers and has not been open about the nature of the defeat device.
What is described is corporate deception and regulatory failure, both of which regretfully come to bear on the end car owner.

What next?

We are not yet in a position to ask you to formally instruct us to take legal action against VW because we are not able to establish with sufficient certainty what financial loss you may have suffered. This is because VW has still not informed the general public what the nature of the software fix is.

We are pressing VW and their UK lawyers to provide this detail, but have not been provided with the information. VW seem only able to provide assurances that the fix will be easy, swift, inexpensive and provide a complete and permanent solution. Provisional expert opinions have been sought and the general consensus is that VW’s assurances are implausible. It is suspected that updates to the software will alter the Engine Gas Recirculation (EGR) rate and include fuel injection manipulation such as injection timing delay, multiple injections and/or injection pressure changes. It is suspected that any injection manipulation and increase in EGR will increase emissions, increase fuel consumption and degrade engine performance. However, I must stress that this amounts only to speculation until such time that we know the details of the proposed fix.

To that end I have written this week to the Department for Transport, the Vehicle Certificate Agency and Freshfields (VW’s UK lawyers). Essentially each recipient is being asked to address the failings identified by the Transport Committee and to reach a decision swiftly as to the legality of VWs position and in the meantime furnish us with comprehensive details about what the fix entails and whether there are likely to be any adverse consequences. I will of course keep you abreast of any response.

I have received many personal emails and voicemail messages with information and detail about individual cases. I would very much like to respond to each and every one individually but cannot due to the sheer volume of numbers. However, please note that feedback from people who have had the fix and any correspondence provided with third parties is being noted and we thank you for keeping us informed. I hope that the periodic updates that I sent summarise the position and give an indication of what the next steps are.

Kind regards,

Jacqueline Young

They'll be no increase in VED, no out of pocket expenses, increased fuel costs or any higher chance of it needing future repair. The only thing I can see is devalue - there are so many effected cars over different marques and why would it alter the value anyway? The car isn't doing any less than it was before and virtually no one cares how clean diesels are....In fact we all know they are cancer machines.

And Audi are going out of their way to correct the issue free of charge, at massive expense to themselves. What's the problem? You don't even need to take them up on the offer of recall. There is ZERO effect to the consumer, the effect and cost is to regulations due to fines and reputational damage.
i really can't believe what people put on here. My A4 went in a couple of weeks ago, i've tried really hard but i can't see, feel, notice any difference!

So I've just got a letter from Audi stating 'we are continuing with our work to release the technical measure for your specific vehicle'

I thought they had already sorted it and were rolling out the fix?

Forgot to mention it on may last post, NO goodie bag left in the car! Emailed the dealership about this, as yet no reply..

Had mine done last week. Running dtuk tuning box but disconnected it for update. They marked a sheet saying tuning box fitted. Re connected box and car seems to be drinking deisel!! Anyone else? It's a 2010 170tdi

Might just be me @S.line but why if you were and still were planning on running a tuning box did you get it done in the first place?

I thought it was mandatory and if not done then car tax could go up? Perhaps the tuning box will need tweaking.

Oh right. At the moment it's not, but wording on letters I received the tone of the letters changed. Tax wise unless the whole system is redone can't see it yet.
But never say never.

I have had mine done last week and after the update my oil level showed half full on the display, I know for a fact it was full before I handed the keys over because I checked it and only changed the oil myself 2 weeks prior.

Anyway got the car home and let it go to sleep for 15 minutes then rechecked the oil level again on the mmi still showing half full. I then put 0.5 litres and checked again it then said please drain oil. The next day I drained 0.5 litres out and it has been perfect ever since.

Anyone had the same issue? Or even know why this would of happened after the software update?

That's not good :busted cop::busted cop::busted cop:

Think all audi owners will be blamed for the hole in the ozone next.

Be about as welcome as Jimmy Saville at a kids party.

Surely they must have realised that somebody would be putting all their vehicles under the microscope?

Anyone else having the 6th 7th gear change more frequently since the upgrade, it is really annoying me.

The reason we won't get compensated is because American cars will have the power affected by the update

Yet our U.K. cars won't unless you start to complain that the update is affecting our cars

Why would the update be different for US market than UK market?

The American emissions limits are different to ours so the the update is having a bigger effect of the vehicle, as far as I understand it.

Since doing my update on 2.0 170 2010 the engine has 'hiccuped a couple of times. More so when cold. Will reply as and when I notice it but the wife drives the car 80% of the time so...

A month after having the update done, my engine management light came on flashing and the diagnostic test said it was errors with the EGR valve which apparently is linked to helping the emissions for the car. Weather it's coincidental or directly linked to the software update I'm not too sure. Here is the thread I open on the problem: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/problem-after-audi-emissions-recall.302998/

Would be interesting to see how many others have the same or similar problem

Replied to your thread. Drove my car today. It had Dtuk box added last year and this was noted on the sortware update report (probs a get out clause!!) anyway on driving today it felt like the engine and tuning box were fighting each other if that makes sense. Very very lumpy on acceleration! Could almost feel like a blocked injector!

Refused the update as it would reset the DPF and EGR "solutions" on mine ;) .
Already mentioned further back but read this on Martin lewis and already signed up, money for nothing so why not, estimated £3000 compensation for each owner of an affected vehicle signed up if they win the Court case, if they dont win then no fee:

Wow.....

I'm all for getting what you can from life, and it's not as if Audi haven't ripped off its customers where ever it gets away with it, but even you must have thought the hypocrisy here is far too much....!!

I am tempted as I have noticed a drop in the resale value of 2.0TDi A4 cars affected by the issue, particularly as I have been trying to sell mine.

If they do win! I am going to wait and then claim myself.

Saving paying them 30% of any win fall!

Thanks for posting the link!
I'm going to sign up, but my car is on Hire purchase, does anyone know if I can still sign up?

All those saying they don't want compensation, simple don't claim, i for one found it hard to sell my Audi after this news broke and saw a 60 percent drop in price and am still stuck with the thing, i bought it as i'm a green party member and liked the figures. it cost me £47000 new an Audi A5 cab Sport with extras, really miffed as the USA got 10.000 Dollars plus 1000 Dollars service voucher, i got a software upgrade that caused a limp mode on the motorway and a free coat hanger and shopping box for the boot, Spain they say are to get 5000 euros. but the UK, nothing, its a disgrace, Mercedes next time for better quality and looks.

My wife refused the 'fix' on her A1 diesel as we weren't confident about the long term effects of it. She also drives a minimum of 500 miles a week for work (sometimes more than double that) and wouldn't want a limp mode being triggered whilst driving.
