S4 Owners - Your Best & Worst Average MPG Figures (According To Your DIS)

Did you not know that 'Nimblybobs' are measurement units for high octane, spark ignition, fuels.
Heavy oil based fuels are measured in 'Wibbles'

I've been in touch with Carista Help. They're working on a beta version that allows the DIS to display fuel consumption in nimblybobs (petrol) or wibbles (diesel).

Best 34mpg on DIS 260 miles to Gatwick, worst through town for about 45 minutes for 3-4 miles 15mpg. Actual measured fill to fill average was about 27mpg, has recently dropped to just over 25mpg as a lot of commuting lately, that contract has just finished so overall average should rise.

New PB on the trip...

338 miles from the tank (DIS showed 20 miles left)
28.71mpg

Love how optimistic my DIS is when I fill up... tonight it showed 315 miles full... although I've not managed more than 210 to the tank in the last 2 fill ups :whistle2:

Hit my best ever on a trip up to the lakes today. Never managed to get it over 28 before so it clearly likes a motorway cruise!

I can't seem to do better than 23 mpg with my S5, that's even after a 200 mile round trip this weekend at mind numbing speeds between 50-60 mph on mostly single carriageway in steady traffic.
I was chuffed to beat my previous 2 month average of 19 mpg though.
How are you guys getting high twenties?!

6mpg once @ 190 then 10mg from a full tank when mapping, erm about 25-26 usually.

BTW dis can be calibrated if you want do the math. I'd urge caution s 26 may be 22 in real world. :)

Yeah, I calculated mine properly and it was 29.9 rather than 32.4.

That speed easy 26-28 mate, what fuel do you run? Are all the runs fully warmed up etc, like no 2 mile journeys etc?

Usually run BP ultimate or Shell V power.
Commute is 10 miles, 5 open road then 5 miles stop start.
I'm not particularly aggressive but will use the power when I want to. I didn't buy it for economy so it doesn't worry me.
The DIS long term average tells me 22mpg, but my fuel app tells me 19mpg.

There's an adaption channel for that I am 90% sure

It's the round town stuff that kills the mpg on the S4. If I do much Dad taxi work it really drinks it.

Driving across our roadworks infested motorways in the average speed camera zones you can get silly numbers on the DIS......... see 44.1mpg below!

...and I have even seen reasonable figures for a full tank.......

but back in the real world...... I can get between 32 to a very best of around 34.4mpg when driving constantly along a motorway at between 70 to 80mph. This is for a B 8.5 2013 car. Its also fitted with stop start but I hate it and mostly switch it off.

Of course if you hoon it, and drive short journeys, expect to see low 20's or even into the high teens.

420 miles projected range. Much lol. The 311 miles from this tank was real though.

My best to date - 35.1 mpg overall achieved on a 45 mile trip today
Mainly motorway, hardly any use of cruise control & speeds varied from 45 - 'over' 70
Was a bit surprised at the result when I checked at the end of the journey as I wasn't driving with economy in mind

Managed 468 miles between refills recently. 0 miles left on the range indicator but only managed to squeeze 58 liters in, so 3 liters still in the tank and a real-world 36.7mpg.

It was a long, steady, mostly motorway trip, four shortish stops, with no hooning and maybe 40 miles or so of heavy conjestion and partly stationary queues. Efficiency mode (yawn) and Shell V-power. Not that I ever believed it but quite how Audi came up with 44mpg for the "extra urban" cycle is a mystery. Maybe in one continuous drive and all downhill.

The computer must have thought there was a new driver/owner as the next day it recommended to enable Stop/Start to improve economy. It hasn't made that mistake again as I've been in dynamic mode ever since.

Slightly out of focus, but yes that really is an average of 38.8mpg. The real story of that pic (at least it would be if it was in focus) is that the outside temperature was 26.5C at 5.42am!

In my MRC stage 2 B8 S4 avant, with skis on the roof, we do about 23.5 mpg on the French autoroute cruising at 85 mph.

On the autobahn, for the 120km leading up to Munich that we did at 140 mph, we did around 16 mpg which I'm happy with.

Can't beat B8 S4's for destroying miles in all weather, nothing I've driven comes close.

After a couple of particularly long runs, I got 300 miles out of a tank full of Shell 'standard' unleaded
DIS showed an average of 29.1 mpg for the tank

Both the long runs were to the same place, one run was 'very spirited' the other quite relaxed TBH

Filled up this morning & the DIS was showing 400 miles range in the tank ! Never seen the magical 400 mile range before lol
& no I don't watch how I drive

Still these mpg figures, surprisingly, are better than the 8V S3 owners are getting

No pic's, sorry

I have just done 3 days of driving from essex to Carmarthen and back and have managed 37.1. This is a calculated figure and to add this was as at the national speed limit when appropriate

Filled up today & DIS was showing an average of 28.5mpg for last tankful, which to date is my best yet
Don't know what the hell happened ! lol

Back to normal after a run today - 22.1mpg lol

My day to day average is 23mpg but I have seen as low as 4 after a blast, quickly followed by a long traffic jam. The best I had was 42.5 and I managed over 400 miles out of that tank, that was mostly done stuck on the 50mph average speed cameras. Btw what's the crack with the B8.5s losing the 200mph speedo, that's no good, may as well be the 2ltr! haha

This was my trip home from work, it's a 100 mile round trip and mostly motorway

I'll just throw this up... Not for the 29.4 mpg, but for the 302.4 miles covered and the more than 1/8th of a tank (and claimed 55 miles) left. The mileage counter is reset every time I visit a garage....
