I want it.

I wish I had equipped my car with it.

The standard Audi sound sound just feel like it should be able to put out more than it's doing.

I'd gladly pay $900 for this install.

You can retrofit the B&O but it averages out at about £1700 for supply and install. It's not just speakers and amps as you need new door cards, while the lighting strips are built in to.

Probably quite labour intensive there is a B&O speaker in the centre of the dash I believe. Some members have retro fitted the sub in the spare wheel well and had great results.

Didn't know the B&O sound system had lights surrounding the speakers - thought you had to buy the light pack for this?

Yeah would be interesting what the equivalent money would get you in Alpine or similar sound wise but the B&O is very well integrated with the Interior Light Pack.

Not sure what MMI control over surround sound, etc you would get with a retro fit or how easy it is to implement ?

Software flash maybe with the B and O coding or *** ( to get sub control ).

Lights are nice but could live without them, someone on here has definitely retro fitted a sub of some kind already.

The light strips above the front door speakers are part of the B&O system and come with it regardless of whether or not you have the interior light pack.

I've retrofitted the B&O subwoofer to the standard system with an extra amplifier and the sound is much improved. Quite an involved job though, fair bit of trim come to off and the glovebox had to be removed, but all done inside a day and for a total cost of around £200 its a good upgrade.

Must have been you then mate. £200 is very good, so you didn't even have the *** Sub before then?

Not sure of the cost option on the 8V but on my B8 the 14 speaker B&O system is by far the best sound system I have ever had on any car. From BOSE on my TT to Harman Kardon on my last BMW....

Yep my B8 avant B&O was truly superb. The S3 is good but not a patch on the B8 was.

+1

My wife had an '09 A4 Avant S-line (not sure of the platform) with B&O and it was truly stunning playing Adelle 21 and Set Fire To The Rain (don't flame me !!) was incredible. Must be down to the larger sound stage than the 8V.

no, just the basic system.

the b&o sub was only about £10 more than the *** one so it would have been rude not to go b&o

I'd think a full B&O retrofit (i.e. sub, speakers, amps, door cards) is going to be risking your warranty a little too much. No Audi dealer is going to do this for you and, if you have any electrical issues, they'd be fully entitled to tell you to take a hike when they realise you've retrofitted all that. I wouldn't risk it myself.

Audi Leeds said they would do it but it would be nearly £3k. The salesman mentioned somebody got a quote as they didn't realise how terrible the standard stereo is.

Very surprising tbh - Audi dealers usually refuse to retrofit anything.

Perhaps the question should be the other way round...
Why SHOULD Audi provide a retrofit of the B+O system. After all Audi are in the business of selling NEW cars. If a new purchaser wants to have the B+O system they just add it to the order for a new car.

I had a brand new a4 yesterday as a courtesy car. It did have DAB radio however no B&O sound. Even my 7 yr old son could notice the difference. "Where's the base Dad" leave it there I think....

The auto manufacture will get to coup even more money from the consumer. The sale of the NEW car, and the money that would have gone to the aftermarket supplier, they will coup that too by offering the after-sale of options and accessories.

After listening to the sound I would definitely pay a premium on the B&O system!! Normally it's around £600 extra as an option? Retrofits will certainly cost far more..
It depends on how much you love your music! Think Audi should set up a booth where you can experience it compared to the basic symphony and concert system...?

You know what's sad. When I drove a courtesy A4 several months ago, it had whatever Concert Audio which I presume is standard sound, it was a '14 model.
The audio in that A4 sounded immensely better than the sound out of my A3. I can't remember the volume dial number, I think it went from 0-to a very high number (oppose to the A3's 0-30) but I remember the volume got pretty loud when I cranked it just half way and was taken back that the car's radio had way more volume dial room to amp it up to make it even louder.

Perhaps the A4 just has better speakers than the A3 if it was Standard Audi Sound like my A3.

I'm not sure mate. All I can advise on is I have owned lots of Audis Nd other cars. The B&O system is fantastic. Never any distortion and it shuts the son up. "My ears need a rest" says it all...

A £3k retrofit !! I'd be inclined to put that amount of money into changing the car. Makes the 750 option price seem like excellent value.

I'm getting booked in for all my speakers to be replaced by hertz coming in at around £1k so not much more than the b and o option

I take it hertz is the company doing the work, what make of speaker are you having fitted ?

Did the same on a Clio I had and it made the world of difference replacing the factory paper speakers. Are you upgrading from standard or *** ?

All hertz speakers sub and amp and just standard stereo I had bose in my 8p s3 so coming from that the standard is horrendous

Ah gotcha sorry I'm well out of touch with the ICE scene.

That should make a world of difference bet you can't wait !!

I know I've commented from the B8 forum but is it available on the 8V? As I've said above it is a superb system. The brand new courtesy car I had yesterday didn't have it and my son even knew the difference.

Hello!, do you have more info about the retrofit? Did you made it?
Thanks in advanve
