Well my time as an A3 owner has been short and sweet - I think my Quattro Sportback was the bomb but unfortunately after undergoing back surgery I need to be sensible for a while.

So goodbye A3 but hello to Q3 S Line Plus 184 Quattro.

Having been previously a Ford man for 20 years I cannot see me being in anything other than an Audi now, I am well and truly converted.

I hope everyone on here enjoys their A3's as much as I have over the last 8 months and wish you all well ;)

Piccies will defo be posted when I can take some decent shots of the new one.

I was gutted to hand the keys over today for my A3 but for the first time in my life I'm trying to be sensible, mind you the Q3 has more power than the old car so am looking forward to testing the dynamic mode on the S Tronic gearbox with glee......

Not long had my third back surgery but still can't get me out of cars.
My plan is to go higher seat position next time round, however, I have a sneaky suspicion it will be another A3. What did you have done?
The Q3 Plus is a nice car. Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Scottyg,

I had a portion of disc shaved off as it had trapped a nerve which gave me back, leg, bum, groin pain for over 2 years.
My rehab isn't going as well as I'd hoped, been told to expect and I'm still getting some discomfort getting in/out and driving the A3 so I thought a couple of years being sensible is a small price to pay to get my back right.
Unfortunately I'm already looking at what mods / retrofits I can do to the Q3....

Help I'm turning into a petrol (well diesel) head..........

I've had two of the Op's you've had on lumbar spine and a much bigger one 5 months ago. Take your time with the Physio. They will try and push you too quickly. Walk as much as you can and strengthen your core.

Good luck with your recovery and enjoy your new car.

6 years ago I was hospitalised and out of action for 3 months about a month after buying my very first Audi, an 8P A3. I remember lying in hospital just thinking about driving it and then convalescing at home, looking at it on the driveway and just itching to get in it and drive it. Eventually the day came when I was fit enough to resume driving. It was like driving it out of the showroom all over again! I hope you'll make a complete recovery; there is nothing like a nice new Audi to make you want to get fit again!
