If I had a spare $AU 90k would I add an RS3 sedan to the garage - nope, it just isn't that special or different.
Yes, I've driven an RS3 SB (for a week and around 800km).
Sounded hilarious to start with but just got ho hum after a while, especially on the open road, cruising.
There was almost no situation I could use the extra torque/power with any enjoyment.
Everything else about it just seemed S3, in some areas, not as good, which surprised me.
I really expected more from an RS car.
I suspect our S3 will be the last VAG car I own.

Not 100% sure about the RS, but the S3 has a sound actuator that's like a speaker placed high up on the dash - it comes into play when you select Dynamic mode. A lot of people unplug it or you can disable it using VCDS.
Most manufactures have a similar device and have different names for it but isn't the resonator part of the exhaust ?

No speaker sound in RS3 indeed they made a point of that in all the advertising.

I really can't abide the fake sound fad we are getting now & why ?
I didn't realise my S5 had it until a few weeks down the line - and it does spoil some of the excitement knowing a lot of the sound is fake.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the S5 / S3 / Golf R etc - but the sound is a pet hate of mine.
The RS3 is 100% natural

I think its VERY safe to say you are in the minority with that veiw lol
I think the simple answer to that is that turbos tend to strangle engine noise, but customers want their performance cars to sound a bit 'meaty'. Not ideal, but a compromise.

There is something wonderful about the noise a naturally aspirated V6 or above makes.
My favourite engine noise was probably from a Renault Clio.
Imagine same engine in your FL S3 mate ;-)

Na not them mate,although they are stunning looking l saw a new black Cayman S the other day,,,,,,off the scale with 20's on it but again thats a £60k too rich for jassy plus the sound is gash,lets say l have a good deposit for a TTRS on a pcp cancelled my normal 3 holidays a year...this year..eh..er indoors aint happy at all..lol....I am at the moment just wondering how far into a TTRS that will take me...so a we will wait,test drive...take it from there..it will keep me transfixed through the winter months...lol
