James' B8 A4

Sat in the waiting room now. Car is currently on the rolling road. Just want to drive it now!!:sob:
I'll get some pictures up later and let you all know how the drive home is. :racer:

I think they do a visual inspection now to make sure the dpf is in place but they don't yet test to see if it's working or not. I'd have tried hunting down a knackered 1 and get that myself and keep the working 1 off the car I case it ever has to go back on

Apparently the process of removing is completely reversible so I'm not too worried

It is reversible if you have another dpf to go back in but it is a long process to get it re fitted!

Let me know what results you get as I might think of removing my dpf as well ! Already had the stage one

what engine have you got? 143? Guessing you'll have to get it mapped again then once the dpf is removed?

Right just got home! So far so good. Haven't properly put my foot down yet so hard to tell the full power but coming back on the motorway it just felt so easy and pulled a lot better. Pulling away is also a lot more responsive from junctions etc.

Was it worth £450? Hard to tell yet.
Is it more fun to drive?
Yes.
Is there a notciable improvement in power?
Yes.
Torque is great. Will take it for a drive down the open country road to the gym tomorrow and see how the power is then.
But for now here is the print out they gave me...

185.9bhp and 320.1ft-lbs of torque

:hubbahubba:So so tempted to get this done now! Will have to wait for a full verdict at a later date.

Haha go for it. The car isn't smokey either like I thought it may be. I'll give to car a good run tomorrow and get a better feel for the torque etc. as I mainly did motorway driving and there was loads of traffic

Oh and as for fuel economy when I picked the car up the average was 22mpg but I'm guessing that's because they've been hammering it all day. So hopefully see an improvement

Thought I would see more BHP with the egr and dpf deleted but guess not. Still happy with 185.9

Strange to see that you haven't seen much gains from the dpf delete, would of thought that you would of had more than, considering that a stage one should bring you up to around 185

Disappointed you couldn't take it for a run tonight lol

Exactly my thoughts. Still feels great to drive through over stock. One thing I did notice was less turbo lag and a greater whistle from the turbo

Something I did find frustrating whilst I was there was that the managed to map (without using the rolling road) a 2013 bmw 116i 136bhp to 210bhp.:scared2:

That's crazy ! It will defiantly be nicer to drive, but it's still hard to believe that you wouldn't have any increase, the only thing that has greatly increased on that print out is the torque slightly. Making me think it's not worth getting a dpf delete by looking at that but I'm pretty sure it would make a difference

I think what they may have done is tweaked the map so it's not smokey maybe? Because I have literally no smoke or soot from it?

I still would have thought that you would of seen an increase in bhp ? Maybe someone else can correct me ?

Wtf? How long will that last without any issues?

Had a spare 5 minutes today to finally get round to spraying the chrome surrounds on the fog grills. Happy there's no chrome left now other than the rings but I like the rings in chrome tbh. Next job for the car is rear tyres to match the front and eventually some new wheels once I've moved into my new house.

Cars filthy so will have to give it a good wash tomorrow.

Looking good mate

Did you spray them in situ our remove them? If the latter, was it easy?

Also how did you do the black on the side mirrors? Wrapped, sprayed or are they like they from the factory?

Cheers

Thanks.

I removed them. More fiddly than I expected so I used a screwdriver to prise the fog grills out then unclipped the chrome rings from behind. Didn't take too long but have to be careful you don't snap the clips. Went back on really easy though.

As for the mirrors, they came black. The car is actually black and it has been wrapped pearlescent white. So the roof, mirrors, side skirt and handles are still black. :grinning:

Just ordered some pressed plates for the car. Hopefully tidy it up a bit without the dealer details on the rear etc.

Gave the car a quick wash too today.

After living with the map and dpf/egr delete for the past few days I've got a better feel for it. Definitely more noticeable when in the higher rev range. A lot less turbo lag and more a whistle from it so sounds nicer too. Acceleration feels great in 2nd and 3rd and feels a lot faster. Haven't got any smoke at all that I've noticed which is good as I've seen a few cars with really smokey maps and dpf deletes like my friends merc when he was in front of me the other day coming home from work it smoked like a chimney.

Overall I'm very happy with it. For the amount it cost I think it's good value for money as it was only £50 more than another company for just the map.

@James.B8 What Eibach sportlines did you get ? As there are 35mm drop and 45mm ones on their page

What's the map like now you've lived with it for a bit?
Yeah no complaints so far. No smoking still and still got a good power delivery. Nice smooth drive as well. Higher rev range it is the most notciable. Very happy with it. Glad I got it done

Cheers, I've gone and ordered them ! Did you fit the yourself ? Also did you trim the bump stops down or leave them as they are ?
Nice one get some pics up when they're fitted! No I took them to a garage to fit. I left them as they were but I know a few people have trimmed them down to get the rear end a little lower

How have you faired with fuel economy now that you've a few miles on the new map. Better, worse or no change at all.

Hard to tell tbh and all the driving I have done since has been with a heavy right foot. Been using it just for the gym and to the fire station recently. But I think from what I have seen on slightly longer journeys is a slight improvement. Certainly no worse so I'm not worried. Once I've done a longer trip I'll have a look to see what it's like in comparison to before

Hi James,

Just spotted this thread and realised you were at the Helicopter Museum on Sunday, parked right next to me!

I didn't realise you were a forum member but I had to rush off, wanted to chat about your sweet looking A4. Anyways, here are a couple of pics of my filthy Avant next to your clean white car!

Haha nice one. I saw your car as soon as I pulled in so I thought I'd park next to a fellow A4.

I didn't know anything about that meet I was just passing and thought I'd pop in. Few nice Audis in there.

Yeah I think I saw you but didn't realise it was your car which is a shame. Was going to ask about your facelift steering wheel that I was admiring. Looks spot on. Nice car you've got.

Might see you around then :salute:

Check out a Facebook group called "Queens square breakfast club". Every 2nd Sunday of the month there is a supercar gathering in Queens square. Usually starts quite early but there is some serious metal down there. Last Sunday was the first time they went to the Helicopter Museum and it was a success so they will do more.

I can help you fit a face-lift steering wheel mate. There is a bit of soldering with the wiring loom needed and a few other bits, but I'm really glad I did it as the flat bottom look sets it off nicely. I'm Bristol based too so hopefully I'll see you around bud.

Oh right I'll have to have a look at then cheers. Ah nice one I'll hopefully order one in the future but won't be for a while I don't think as I've just moved house so all the money is going on that. Yeah it looked super nice on yours. Makes the interior look much more modern and sporty.
I'm in winscombe where abouts are you?

I live in St. Annes Park mate, but drive over to Clevedon most days. Nice little blat over the country roads!
