Hi guys,

I have a 2004 8P 2.0TDI BKD with 230k on the clock, FVAGSH (bar one service) all mechanical work has been completed by Audi Main dealer too, except the most recent cambelt/water pump.

I have recently had the cambelt replaced (3rd time in its' life) at 228k.

Recently the gearing seems to have been playing up. Basically the car seems to rev up to 3-4k when the throttle is pressed gently in D, but there is little/no drive. It feels like the clutch is engaged (if it were a manual). When the throttle is feathered more abruptly the gear finds itself and causes the car to lurch forward. Any idea on what this could be? It seems to be doing it more and more often. I have had the DSG oil service and it still does it. No EML though. It also only appears to happen between 3-4th gears.

It's a horrible sensation, like someone has hit you from behind.

The only other issue which does throw the EML, is the G62 temp sensor. I have changed both the fuel temp sensor on the right hand side of the block, just under the engine cover, and the one next to the thermostat. While I was there I changed the thermostat and then tested the one I removed to find it worked. I can't tell if the fans kick in as the dual fans for the climatronic run as soon as the cabin heaters are on. If they are off, the gauge doesn't move from 50deg.

Any idea what could be the culprit here? VAGCOM showed the G62 error. Sensor has been replaced and it is still duff (wasn't a gen. part though)...

Thoughts? Can I test the removed sensor? If so, how?

Thanks,
Nathan

Sounds like your DSG mechatronic is kaput - there are places that recondition these. Add all the labour involved in taking it out and installing it's not cheap unfortunately.

Not sure on the temp issue.

Yeah I was hoping that wasn't the issue... I don't have the flashing PRNDS on the DIS though..

I think it can fail in different ways and the flashing PRNDS happens when the box has pooped its pants completely. Either way, I'd be getting it booked in for a diagnostic check.

Based on your mileage, it may be that your clutch packs have simply worn out?

Is that a similar price to the mechatronics? I would rather it was the clutch packs to be honest, mechanical are much better than electrical gremlins :/

Just an update for now... The EML has gone out, and the temp is running up, and the lurching has stopped. Very odd this car :wtf:

Might be worth doing a dsg reset and re-sync/calibration. You need vcds, some open quiet and patients.
