Hi all,

Picked up my first Audi today and I was looking through the service history of my car (its done 48k) and it has full Audi service history been there 5 times since it was new and I could not see anything in the history about the gearbox being serviced.

When should I do it as I have read that it should be done 40,000 intervals from quite a few forum posts due to the gearbox being pretty bad.

Cars a 2010 2.0 TDI A6 C6 170 S Line 7 speed Auto.

Audi say its a "Non serviceable item" hence why its not been done. I would do it asap as the CVT gearbox it crap. I've had 2 go including on my A4 B8 8 speed 2.7 TDi at 44k. I now buy Quattro's. No problems then.

CVT is a serviceable box and Audi do service them every 40K, it's the tiptronic box that are sealed for life.

Thanks for this guys, I have litrally just emailed my 2 nearest Audi's for prices.

Can anyone tell me why the CVT auto service is not straight forward or "normal". I have been reading a fee posts but some people say any old auto specialist can do it and some saying only go to Audi.

I am getting it done as everyone keeps saying get it dine at 40k but I am also getting a remap so want everything running amd working perfect before I get it done.

I used to drive a B6 A4 2.5TDi with the Multitronic gearbox. The service for the box was basically changing the gearbox oil, if I remember correctly it held 5l of oil and the correct process was to double flush it, ie empty, fill, empty, fill. The gearboxes are sensitive to dirty oil I believe due to the wet clutch. I've also been told that the newer gearboxes (newer than the B6 I had) are much more reliable than the older ones.

It states in the service book to get the multitronic serviced every 38k miles. got mine done at 32k miles.
I will get it done again at 64k miles.

Called Audi today to double check the service history against the car. Found out it had a new auto gearbox at 11,000 miles and was done under warranty. Seeing as the car is at 48,000 miles the current auto box is in need of the service at 49,000. Booked it in with an Audi UK dealer for £175. Thought it would cost at least £250 for some reason.

Thanks for this. When I spoke to Audi they said that there is a certain way but didnt day how or why, just that other garages probably would do it like any other car and not in the correct way.
