Visually looks spot on. Will be interested to hear reviews of the ride...

Don't think anything has changed in that department between FL and PFL ?

It's £2000 on a hatch, lot a dosh if your adding pano roof and technology package etc.....won't add much value l would think on the residual price, the saloon has it standard or it use to,not paid too much attention to the spec of the facelift car to be honest

19" and magride combo was the cherry on the cake for me mate! And I totally ignored the reasoning about resale value ;-)

Yea it was a £2,000 extra with the wheels... but it is a company car so i'm not fussed one bit about the residual value.. :)

I've gone for the Pano roof, Advanced Tech Pack with virt cockpit, Audi Parking System Plus.. in Glacier White.

lol I know. It's going to be fine. Too much waiting... ;-)
Did you go for the A4 alloys? They should really add a extra bit of difference to the FL... You've made the right choice

They do look good, but I was put off them because I don't want to sacrifice ride comfort (already have mag-ride) and because when I put my order in they were a £2500 option. By the time they'd dropped to £900ish my order was already gathering dust.

If they did them in 18" then I might be tempted to go for them, but to be honest the standard wheels are nice enough, and there's only so many options you can tick before you get to the point where you'd be better off buying a different car.

Initially I spec'ed the other 19" which were £1,100 (No way I'd spend £2.5K on these babies!!) then out of the blue the 19" wheels pricing went down to £850 (the ones I spec'ed) and £950 for these ones so I got on the phone to my dealer and asked to change asap and adjust the price accordingly. It was just days or even hours before the order was locked!
Not many cars on the market or from other brands I like or shall I rather say that fit my use case (need it to be confortable for my daughter at the back and be able to fit a road or mountain bike inside) so going up would be RS3 (not available in FL yet), S5 Sportback (not available yet - new one) or S7/RS7 Sportback. S7/RS7 being out of reach (even my particularly elaborate man maths can't do it!) and I wouldn't get a RS3 or S5 without the latest tech inside so the FL S3 is the perfect choice at the moment :)

Mag ride & 18s will make the car look like it's on stilts.

I'm with Speedy on the roof rails (or lack of), no need to make it look like a mini Avant (hides!!). :friends:

GSB... could always present his new car As the new S3 Allroad.... Lol

Got to balance aesthetics against awful road conditions and the plethora of speedhumps around here I'm afraid. I've currently got an S3 on 18's with mag ride, and really, it looks just fine. The problem with lowering to the extent that makes it aesthetically worthwhile is that it reduces the ability to cope with 'real' roads, and it makes it looks a bit boy-racer, speaking of which;

Have things like this ever been seen in the arena of serious motorsports?

Pads sporting a Willans, Sparco, Schroth, Luke or Recaro logo would at least have more credibility, but Ripspeed? This is 'The Gap' of aftermarket accessories, and they're hardly befitting of a premium German sports hatch. Sorry, but these are £8 worth of Barry tat that belong in a shagged out be-spoilered 1.2 litre Corsa. Their principle use being somewhere to hide the owners herbal stash when he's pulled by the fuzz for doing umpteen handbrake turns in a municipal car park (again), or getting ticketed for trying to put his valves through his bonnet on his 18th lap of the local high street, cruising for 'honeyz' who he think might be moistened by his eardrum shattering combination of 3kW of grime music and a poorly fitted spud cannon exhaust.

Of course, that's just my opinion...:blahblah1:
