Facelift THE NEW AUDI A3 (2016 FACELIFT) – STILL AHEAD OF THE CURVE

I heard the the FL S3 has a bit more grumble on the exhaust note as well?!?!?

Supposedly so! There was a sound video on this thread a while back, can't remember the name, but the FL did seem louder (with some pops and crackles).

Any idea what page it's on?

Hi all, I'm circling a lease deal for about £300 per month on an S3 via All Car Leasing (never heard of them so I'm doing some research).

How are you all leasing your S3's? Have you found any good deals I may have missed.

For £300 p/m I'm really tempted, I could get about £10k for my A3BE which I'd put away somewhere, it is tempting, a lot of car for the money!

I got a good deal from Concept Vehicle Leasing. S3 Sportback, S-tronic, Navarra, privacy glass, alloy rails, virtual cockpit, rear parking sensors, fully maintained, 9+23, 10k - £320/month.

Hi Jassy. Nice to speak again after the advice you gave me last year.. I totally agree. After having this car about a year now, it has completely fell way below my expectations, apart from the Bang & Olufsen, which is truly sublime. As you say, the steering truly lacks any feedback, the suspension is absolutely horrible and the car doesn't really give any sense of enjoyment. I now know what veeeight meant about the pitchy bouncing sensation going over any sort of uneven road. Haldex doesn't give you much confidence in the corners as a 90:10 split, along with the trash suspension, so you're pretty much left 'enjoying' the car in straight lines, after you've gone through the 1-2s of agonising turbo lag.

This combined with rattle after rattle, which Audi still haven't rectified (window rattles, seatbelt rattles, and now MMI rattles) I really think this car is a massive disappointment. After having a 330d on loan last weekend, I found myself actually enjoying driving again on the roads. For the past year or so now, I've felt numb on the roads, driving this lifeless, boring car. I think in the next 6 months I'll probably move to a 440i xDrive.

As for the FL S3, there is virtually no difference besides the gimmicky interior gadget upgrades, which the non-technicals will cream over. Behind the scenes, the steering rack, dampeners, brakes etc are still the same underwhelming components.

Horses for courses I guess as I tried a few different motors before choosing the S3, as I do a bit of fishing a 330d xdrive tourer was tested over a weekend, lovely car but still a bit twitchy at the back when pushed (I've had an E91 in the past, it was fun in the wet too), I then had a day in the M235i, really warmed to the engine but found I didn't really have much confidence in corners, I wanted to drive it like I'd stole it but just didn't have the balls as it felt quite loose on cornering, then I had a play in a used A45, LOVED IT, couldn't quite get the Mrs to love it though, she hated the aero pack kit on it and she was nervous about me having another Merc after rejecting one last Oct, then I had a play in the S3 sportback, the interior in my opinion looks better than the BMW's, the build and cabin noise is better than the Merc IMO, (they squeak and rattle like you wouldn't believe) and I actually enjoyed the car. Each car was driven on my daily commute, which is mainly country roads with lots of nice bends going in to a more built up area with speed bumps and lots of starting and stopping, I then took each one to my playground just up the road from where I live to basically drive them like I'd stole them, the Cat N Fiddle is when I get to know cars and out of the BMW 235I and the S3, I felt quicker in the S3, lots more confidence was the difference, had a twitchy bum moment in the 235I but probably down to driver error, the A45 managed to put a huge grin on my face, the drive of the xdrive 330d tourer was lovely but it just wasn't what I wanted, plus it was the most expensive to Finance, I could get a better deal on a 5 series.....so I had a second test drive in the S3, it does everything I want, and does it really quite well but its worked out a lot cheaper, I'd go as far to say that the Stronic converted me as I've always loved manual and I got on with how it handles, only the A45 gave me more confidence and "man moments", . Had I not had a massively poor two years with Mercedes I would have chosen the A45, but because I had taken a hit getting out of a A250 EngineeredbyAMG (fault after fault) to the new shape C250D, which I rejected after 4 months I just couldn't go back to that brand......just yet anyway!

It was a very close call though between all the cars, everyone had its +'s and -'s, none were bad cars, all pretty ace in their own way.

Found the B&O pretty meh so didn't spec it, it might not be for what I play, Autechre, Aphex, Jon Hopkins to name a few, felt "mid-less" even after a play.....but again, horses for courses, I'm a NAIM fan!

Jeez what a long thread...so I have question re the light inlays after reading most of the 84 pages.

£200 extra and not standard...is it just white light or can you change the colour at all?

Great pics @moonlight !

Would be nice to see Navarra Blue along side Cosmos, although I think Navarra is a bit lighter...?

A few members have seen Cosmos up close and personal..recall one opinion was 'meh'...but the other handful liking it.. although not my bag ....dark blue is a good colour...but when rewarded with some sun it comes to life...so a blue lover should be happy

Navarra from what I have seen also looks very dark ..think it would be hard to distinguish the two from most pics....would need them both to be in direct sunlight to really get the best out of them both

White. You can't change the colour. It's a car not a disco mate lol

Nice interior lighting on the Q2 but after going through the configurator, I found the level of standard kit for the price of the Q2 is pretty rubbish. Some stuff that is standard on the A3 Sport isn't even standard on the s-line Q3 despite similar RRP.

...... or if they're anything like the B&O and cup holder lighting reverse the connector and you'll then have red lights

Not as user friendly as the others tho ;o)

New model just about to come out will mean higher price and less standard. Plus it's a Q model. Think I'll be sticking with an A3 next time.

Managed to find it on youtube :)

That man lost all credibility as a motoring journalist the moment he donned those gloves. What a tool...

I had a look, but didn't get past the engine selection page. A choice of 1.4petrol and 1.6 diesel is no choice at all.

Find the Q2 to be disappointing to configure, standard air conditioning, no climate control and also a monochrome screen, MONOCROME, that's something you get on the A1 or the A4 from the 90's for crying out loud, I have to say that the latest A3 facelift rear end leaves me cold, that rear diffuser doesn't sway it for me, I know it's horrid looking at the Q2 but actually the sport model looks ok-ish for the next one I think, we'll see.

Have you seen the car in reality? The diffuser looks great. It looks totally different on the configurator. Besides, even if you hate it in reality you'll be too busy admiring the lights to notice.
