Chris's A4 Black Edition Quattro

Now Chris hope you well? Which fuses did you take out to disable obd port?

Havent took any out yet, keep meaning to and forgetting. There was a thread (might have been in the obd blocker thread) where I said what fuses to remove.

Ok cheers mate. Thought you'd took them out, had a quick look around but couldn't find it (was busy at work at the time)

Just when someone else has had their car nicked (no doubt using this method) reminded me onto to remove them.

Going well. Hopefully get it all machine polished up next week when I'm off work.

To confirm, removed mine just now and no power to the obd port, no lights on the cable or anything.

Hi Chris,

Just picked up the same car a couple of weeks ago and loving it. Hopefully I can get it up to the same pristine standard you've set.

Just wondering if there are any 'must does' I should do to get the best out of my new baby. Also really love my music especially through to B&O sound system but i want to stream it from my iPhone 6 as I need three 16G SD cards to get all my iTunes library. Do you know of anything that can do this? Read a couple of reviews about Tune2air?
Any other advice you can give would be much appreciated.

Slanj.

Hutch

Welcome to the club! Lovely cars these.

No idea about the tune2air stuff, but have seen posts about a device that plugs into the AMI in glovebox and lets you steam audi to it.

I just use the SD card. never going to fill it up and if I do, probably forget half the stuff exists on there with it taking 32gb....or newer stuff has been released and the older stuff generally gets forgotton about.

Currently on machine polishing it to remove any light swirls and ceramic coating it with some SC15 to help keep it looking awesome and ultimately some paint protection.

Couple pics and a video if it works..

Few scratches that were hidden at time of purchase....looks like someone rubbing with a dirty sponge :(

Cars looking good Chris fancy a trip up to Scotland and do mine I'll keep you well fed & watered
In an earlier post you used C4 on the trim, did you pre clean it before hand, if so what did you use?

Oh by the way I got the Tunes2air adapted, very good, now able to stream my iTunes Match and Amazon prime music with no faffing about trying to get library folders onto SD card.

I got one of the tune2air boxes, they're great, I think I paid about £80 but its almost as good as the OEM bluetooth was in my 63 Golf.

Lovely car, almost wish I had gone for a white one...

C4 on the trim? Got a link to the post as unsure which trim you mean,

My mistake, had it in my head you used Gtechniq C4 to seal of black trim mate. That SC15 ain't the cheapest is it, what's it like to work with, seen some posting that it murder to get off if it goes on the wrong place. I'm kinda new to detailing so any advice you can give would be appreciated, especially with what to use.

Not too bad. Apply to the panel and buff off immediately with a microfibre. Easier than most waxes tbh, just got to be careful applying it around parts you dont want

Just ordered some 11mm and 12mm spacers for the car with longer bolts so should be interesting to see how it sits afterwards :D

great looking whip! How does your OCD deal with those rusted brake rotors. a little metal polish and then POR15 would clean those up

Thought Chris had painted them?

Sent from my Note 4 using tapatalk

I painted them silver (inner discs) Pad area only looks rusy because it was washed....all brake discs do this.

4 F'n hours taking tar off my car because the local councils roads department are a bunch of twats!!!!!!!

Well spacers didnt fit. Wrong centre bore for a start (57.1mm ordered, not sure what Audi has) and the fact the audi hubs have a large lip on them, so would need a pretty deep spacer to clear that.

back to the drawing board next week. Could cut the inner parts out of the spacers I have, but would be limited on the hubcentric parts using the existing hubcentric hub on the car. Not a huge fan of straight bolt through spacers

yeah the centre bore on the B8s are 66.56(or 66.6 depending how they round it up or not in the sale ads).
The lip is big, something around 11mm to 13mm from memory, for safety I personally would have 12+mm hubcentrics so that the lip is adequate.
@DPM on here will be able to stear you the correct ones you need.

I ran H&R 10mm front & 15mm rear for nearly two years on my A4 b8, both had longer bolts as a fitting, no issues, in fact I've been running the 15mm ones on my A5 for over a year, still no issues. Both sets purchased from Damian, @DPM.

The H&R ones may be a bit more expensive than some of the cheaper makes, but well worth he extra IMO.

Made some makeshift spacers up today to see what 15mm would sit like.

Well been putting this one off for ages, but finally got round to ordering a RS4 honeycomb grille. Ordered it from Xenonz-uk on ebay and come the next working day. Looks good quality and fairly sturdy as you would expect.

Got round to fitting it today. Bumpers on these are seriously easy to remove aswell, which is a bonus.

Really impressed with it. Now just need to get some SC15 on it to keep it nice and glossy. Had to remove the foam as it looked silly pushed up behind the honeycomb, and cable tied the parking sensor harness to the honeycomb behind the number plate plinth.

Also order a timing belt kit, water pump, auxillary belt, coolant, fuel and oil filter, and 5L of 5W-40 Quantum platinum for a fixed service interval...so thats my next task when I get round to finding a weekend where im free.

Thanks.

Big job on today. Bought timing belt kit, oil and filter and a fuel filter a couple weeks ago, and just got round to fitting them.

Couple pictures of the job.

Nice and easy to change. pin kits in and slacken the verniers for the cams and fuel pump. Remove old belt and tensioner and replace all the idlers. Replace waterpump. Renew and tension the belt up, nip the verniers back up. One of the easiest engines to do. Literally took 15-20minutes to time up and 10minutes to get the covers and auxiliary belt back on.

Got the front end back on and everything bolted up (noticed im a few bolts short on the headlights so must have been removed prior to ownership and not replaced :(

Also done the fuel filter which is another nice easy job. Undertrays off and its just a small 10mm nut holding a bracket on for the filter and then 2 spring clamps for the hoses on the filter. Run the pump for a minute with the computer and fired straight up. (if only all diesels were like that!!)

Will get the oil and filter done tomorrow.
