Hi there - someone please help!
I have an A4 Cab, 2.0 TDi S Line which has problems starting.
It cranks, sometimes fires up straight away (rarely now) but when it doesnt, it kills the battery when you keep turning it.
I need to get rid of it as soon as possible and cant sell it like it is, but no one seems to be able to tell me what the issue is.
Its had new diesel filter, so cant be that.
Someone said glow plugs, someone fuel pump and so on and on.
I dont have much money to fix, hence the reason I need to get rid - can someone advise please!
Thank you so so much for any help!

Should have said, RHD, 2006 model!

sounds like glow plugs, a bit more info might help service history, mileage, what fuel are you running it on??????? have you it scanned to see what the problem could be,could be something like a sensor or something a bit more serious

138000, regular diesel, almost full service history. Recent me oil pump, turbo.
Is it difficult for a role to change glow plugs?

i think your first point should be getting the car scanned unless you want to throw good money after bad, where are you from

Near Winchester.
Hoping to have someone round overt next couple of days to scan it but last scan showed no issues.....

if you have someone comming over with vcds i would wait and see what they say,how old is the battery, you said regular diesel is that supermarket crap,my money is on glow plugs they are about £25 a piece have a look at europarts

If it's glow plugs there will normally be preglow "output stage" code(s) stored.
Really the best way to confirm glow plug functionality is to manually power via car-side wiring while monitoring current (glow controller unplugged) - first confirming that they are 12V. Unfortunately this will require a good garage and a bit of time...
Let us know what, if anything, the scan reveals.
