S3 stuck in 'ECON' mode

Hi Guys,

This issue relates to my blowers/air conditioning. My Econ light/button cannot be turned off and its very warm in the car because of this, any ideas what might be causing this or why I can't turn it off.

Fault with the air con. Econ is compressor / aircon off.
 
I know its a fault with the aircon lol.. just wondered if anyone else had this problem and what it was
 
Could be anything. I've had a faulty pressure
Switch on the past that caused it, but it could be low on gas because of a leak, or stone strike etc, without a diagnostic, it's just guesswork.
 
In my case, it's due to the whole A/C compressor going unfortunately.. So hopefully it's not the same for you as as it is expensive to repair, especially for something I don't even use!
 
Same thing happened me, just had it repaired. The high pressure switched had failed and let all the gas out, ended up costing me €230. P/N:1K0959126A afaik
 
Mine was stuck on when I bought the car, stuck it in to dealers and it just needed a recharge, so looks like any fault situation will default to ECON

my car also has this, i just got it recently after buying the car 6 months ago and it wont let me turn it off hope its not anything extreme.
 
I have a 2007 s3 and went to get my car regassed as the aircon never got cold. When they were filling with gas the car started to give a high pitch whistle from the G65 high pressure switch. Guys showed me by pressing on it, the noise would stop.
I have just ordered one from eBay was £19.99 and is an OEM part from Germany.
Been told it's just a 17mm spanner to remove but need to get to it from under the car.
I will have it fitted and then regas and hopefully it will be sorted.
 
hopefully thats the problem and nothing major. im going to get mine checked out on the weekend.
