I want to get led number plate lights and interior lights and also upgrade the rear lights to the later style.

I don't want any warning lights coming up on the dash, can anyone recommend any?

Are the rear lights a plug and play replacement? I've seen a video about swapping them but got lost a little watching, is there a loom available?

Pete

We can supply/fit the lot if you wanted an all in one solution, ping over a pm if of interest.

Cheers mate, I like to keep my hand in and do as much on my cars as I can.

Thanks for the offer though.

@t8ups on here does them, i got mine from him, perfect they are.

I can supply the LED lighting :)

Trups

Trups supplys the goods and you can keep yer hand in and fit it. Just a small loom and bulbs to plug in.
------and they'll work with no errors.

Thank you for that, what is a coding dongle? I have no vcds so this will be a big stumbling block for me, the added expense of having to purchase vcds is almost putting me off doing the retro fit.

I swapped out my rear lights and fitted LED number plate light units myself.

I alsp picked up a copy of VCDS claimed to be genuine but who knows all I know it worked perfect at coding the rear lights in as well as a few other tweaks amd it was very cheap.

The rear lights I picked up from Euro Car Parts and there OEM units Magneti Marelli they cost me £150 for the lot and I fabricated a loom adaptor using connectors and hot glue

These rear lights are a must do mod, if you have the sportback

The LEDs look great.
Can any of you with them fitted please clear up a few things though?...
The old light units are only lit up on the outer units when the sidelights are put on, the new ones obviously have both inner and outer illuminated.
Is there any difference in brake lights? ie is there a brake light on the new inner unit or is it still a fog lamp?
I watched a YouTube video earlier where this job was done and they mentioned a resistor being needed?
As these light units don't seem to be 'real' LEDs this confused me, surely resistors aren't needed as there are still conventional bulbs in these units, aren't there?
Thanks.

With vcds you can use the rear fog lights as brake lights, there is a tick box in vcds

No resistors were used on fitting mine

Thanks for the info!
I'd seen that setting in VCDS and had wondered what it was for!
So even without LEDs I can have an extra 2 brake lights?
Think I will take a look.
Cheers.

Yeah I guess so never tried it on original rear lights

Is there more than 1 OEM supplier for these 8P Sportback lights?
I know that both ECP and GSF offer Magneti Marelli units , although having changed a LED rear light unit this morning on a 2010 A3 convertible (different light unit I know!) was a bit surprised to find it was made by Hella?
