Good evening all...

Today, I took the A4 Quattro (3ltr V6 TDi) for a re-map by Rick at Unicorn...after hearing such great things about him, I thought it was about time I sampled his skills...

****** Hell...the guy is a genius!

First, the figures...

Standard - 236.1 HP and 369.7 ft/lbs (both figures above Audi quoted)

After re-mapping - 278.9 HP and 448.8 ft/lbs

That, my friends, makes a stunning difference to the way the car drives! The car has MUCH improved acceleration - less gear changes, due to the increased torque and the car drives a lot smoother than on the standard map. But - you really notice the extra power/torque when overtaking...dear god, I nearly sh*t myself when I floored it to overtake on a long straight! I never thought the standard car was slow - but this is something else!

Rick has worked his magic again - he's turned my beautiful A4 into a real wolf in sheeps clothing...

Many thanks Rick - a job well done, mate.

If you're thinking of having your car re-mapped - book in at Unicorn, you will not be disappointed...

Cheers,

Simon

Glad you are all finding out what a great engine the 3.0 TDI can be if it's breathed on a little. Rick knows which buttons to press to make these engines work.

...he certainly does! So much so, that I am seriously thinking of selling the S3 and seeing how much can be got from the A4 (I may need some advice/help, Karl)...

How does it go compared to the s3? Glad your pleased with unicorn, will be taking mine up to him soon :)

...to be honest, Rich, at 'real world' speeds (by that I mean in-gear acceleration, rather than drag racing or inappropriate speeds on public roads) it feels faster than the S3! The S3, of course, is, ultimately, faster at the top-end - but 30 to 80 the A4 would eat my S3 alive...the torque in 3rd and 4th gears (I ran out of road before getting into 5th) is like a tidal wave...to say I'm impressed with Rick's work is an understatement!

Cheers,

Simon

Just looking at unicorn website and it has a price for stage 1 and a price per hour of rolling road of £120/hour. Is the stage 1 mapping done without the RR?

As far as I know Rick uses the rolling road for any one getting there car mapped. Running it up on the dyno allows you to make sure all is OK before the mapping starts. @Rick @ Unicorn Motor Dev.

No surprises there and enjoy it mate.

I follow his work on Facebook and he always posts his work.

448ft lbs must feel incredible.

Indeed such a sleeper.
