Hi guys! <3

I've been following this website for sometime and finally plucked up the courage to post something!

Guys can you help me? I want to turn my lovely little audi a3 1.8t 8L into a showcar, and have lots of ideas! But not a clue where to start!!

She (her name is Juliet ) is a 5 door sky blue audi, I've already had the windows tinted and bought some wind deflectors for the front to help reduce cabin noise and make her look different too, I want to have the wing mirrors wrapped soon!

She needs new seats! But I have no idea where to start!!! Can someone hold my hand please <3 I'd be so grateful!!

Take it easy on me guys... we all had to start tinkering somewhere...

Emma xx

Welcome to the wonderful world of Audi-sport .

Post some pics of your car.

I guess new seats is where you want to start as well, answered your own question

If you want a proper show car, you'll want to be doing a lot of cleaning, mainly under the bonnet

Theres always S3 Recaros for sale, should of thought theyd fit.

Do the a3 have the electrics in place for the s3 seats I know it's been done a few times just don't know how much work it is

Some do, might be a different plug though... If not it is so simple to wire in, just need an ignition feed and earth, simples!

Personally speaking, I think a 5 door is not an ideal start for a hatch show-car... But we're here now I suppose!? lol

It really depends on how much you want to spend. But I think the best place to start would be with some well chosen rims (would have to be 18" for show car), get it nice and low on some coilovers (can just be £150 cheapies) and sort the stance out a bit... That'll be the quickest and most drastic transformation you could pull off without spending silly monies and will probably give you a good idea of where you're heading with the project.

So ignore me than haha looks like the s3 seats are out the window for you

:( so what would be my other options? I have searched ebay and gumtree for audi breakers trying to find replacement seats, mine are fabric and the drivers seat is water stained from a leaky seal around the door, going to replace the seal but the seat itself is already damaged?

What about reupholstering them? Miss that possible or has anyone done similar?
Em x

*Is that possible

I really like the look of these:
And would be willing to save up to have something like that done but don't know where to look to have it done (without it costing the earth!)

Like these xx

I suppose by *show car* what I really mean is a car for me to show off in :innocent::tonguewink:

Lowering her would lose some comfort during driving though wouldn't it? I dont want to be dragging my touche along the floor feeling every little crack and pothole in the road, been there done that in a corsa and a golf and hated it!

Hi Emma, welcome to audi-sport.net. What colour is your car?

That's a nice colour Emma, don't see many of that colour around. I remember one of the guys was selling seats a few months ago, not sure if he sold them in here or put them in eBay. I will drop him a message ;)

I was going to have parts under the bonnet wrapped, what else do you suggest? I'm not at all mechanical but I am trying to learn! I don't want her to sound garish and loud, I quite like thats shes understated tbh but maybe a few tweeks? Not sure what to do though!

Golf GTI recaro a from a five door will be a direct fit, try and find a set of leather seats if you can, they came mostly in black, but there are cream ones available, just lower the car with some springs to keep the comfort, 40 mm will look good, as for wheels, up to 19" will fit with no rubbing on that drop with 235/35/19 tyres, do the chrome grill surround, in black or even carbon wrap.

This might sound a little dumb but... does it matter what MK it is?

Just to point out... Any seats from a 3 door, the rear seats won't fit a 5 door properly, if at all.

:( so my only option is to try and get some from another 5dr? Or at least the rear then?

Could always use the fronts out a S3 then keep an eye out for some leather rears from a 5dr A3, mk4 golf, mk1 Leon or Bora...

Coilovers are indeed likely to trash the ride comfort, especially the cheap ones! . . There's no better way of showing off than in a low car on big rims though!

Either way bigger/nicer rims would go a long way to sort out the exterior... And there are plenty of spring/damper kits out there that will give you some lows without compromising ride quality too much.

These will fit? xx

They did a recaro sport seat for the a3 1.8t for the 5 door iirc.

I no nothing about building a show car, power monster yes but show car, usually clean, huge wheels, "stance" and a few dub stickers? Or you could build an absolute gem of a standard car, unfortunately they get overlooked at shows. I remember seeing a really mint standard S3, I thought that was best of show, was immaculate.

I hate to break it to you, but no  There there...

That being said anything is possible with enough $$$'s!

:sleepy:
Beautiful though thats what I want! So unfair *spits dummy* Why cant the things I want just fit and have done with it! :tearsofjoy:

Really enjoying looking around though and trying to find things! Fun :grinning:

You could fit that, but there are replica armrests available which are pretty good, you need to cut the little rectangular coin tray on the very back of the console to fit it and for the genuine armrest for that matter.

Did they reduce noise noticeably?

God yes. There was a really loud rattle anything over 80mph but its so much better now. I got the 4 piece set (mines a 5dr) but took the rear off because it was only the front that was causing the [problem, plus with tints the rear seemed daft with window guards. Highly recommend, I bought Heko ones from eBay xx

Thanks, that's good to know. Also saw you mention replacing door seals. Any luck finding new ones? Last I heard Audi had stopped making those for the 8L...

will

fit my car? Been trying to google it and cant find an answer! :(

The fronts will fit fine so long as you take the subframes as well... The centre armrest will also fit with the associated bracket.

The rears won't though... Still, could buy them and wait for some 5dr leather rears to crop up :)

As said, rear seats from any 5dr a3 (8l), mk4 golf, mk1 leon or Bora should fit fine...

Not as yet but I have sent messages round all my local scrappers and motorhog, and got a guy at my local garage looking too

Failing that I'll just botch it somehow, since having the window guards in though the leak isnt so bad because it drives the rain away from the window

A decent car trimmers should be able to find some replacement rubbers for you, usually sold by the metre.

Look what I am picking up tomorrow!

An hour away from me, heated mk 4 golf 5dr seats XD
