Boot takes a few attempts to open.

My boot usually takes 2 or 3 attempts to open with both the handle and remote. When I press the button I can hear the motor work, but it doesn't 'pop'. Im assuming it's the latch at fault, is it a common fault?
 
I believe the latch is a common one to go. Mine went recent;y, had no issues then suddenly on the morning of it's mot it wouldn't lock closed! Relatively simple job to change.
 
I have both parts if you're interested ? The handle with the number plate lights will need a stud from your original.

I would try giving the lock mechanism a good lube up first.

Id let you have it for £10 + postage. It's an easy swap couple of nuts and a plug. Give yours a good clean and lube and let me know if you want it and I'll get it off to you.

its not the mechanism matey its the reverse light switch
 
sorry i thought u was taking the p lol when you said reverse light switch, i thought it was a crank position sensor
