I recently brought these headlights for my A4 to replace my stock halogens: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A4-B...700052?hash=item542a589054:g:tjIAAOSwe7BWu409

The DRL is activated via Sidelights. My is an a4 cab with auto headlights. I have access to full Vagcom. i tried changing the coding to nordic and it would not let. it kept resetting after accepting the coding. if i change my coding to bi-xenon then change to nordic, then it accepts changes but lights are on all the time due to headlights originally being halogen. this leads me to believe that these codes are linked to one another.
I wanted to know how to make the front sidelights turn on with the ignition without throwing up an error on the DIS.

OEM bi-xenon with DRL run off the H7 halogen full beam wires.

If you want them on permanently, I would find the wiring for the LED bars and wire them into a switched live so that you retain H7 full beam.

Wouldn't that give me a bulb out error on the DIS?

No as your wiring to a switched live, not an existing bulb circuit
so i should splice into the wires going into the front side lights and connect them to a switched live source while keeping the original wires for the sidelight circuit connected?
Also i read somewhere that the ecu will throw out a bulb warning cuz the sidelights will be on while the switch will be in auto position(off), so the ecu will think the sidelights are out or something?

I never said side lights.. I said LED DRL.

The LED light bars surely have they're own 2/4 wires per headlight? How are they currently wired?

If they're currently on the side lights, disconnect them and wire them to a switched live or an independent switch which ever you prefer

the led lights are wired as sidelights. the aftermarket lights use the led to replace the sidelights.

So you don't have a separate halogen or other side light?

But of a pickle there then. Two options, connect a halogen side light, hide it in the back of headlights and wire the DRL to switched live

Or

Wire in a resistor to the side lights circuit, and then wire the DRLs to a switched live.

I don't think what you're after can be done with vcds tweaking due to the way the a4's with DRL are wired.

My old a3 you could enable side lights without rear coming on but don't think you can on a4, I've never found a coding for it. It's a shame the lights arnt bi xenon, you could have then coded car correctly and wired the DRL to full beam circuit (used as DRL on bi xenon oem lights)

thanks for your help. i was thinking of wiring a diode into the sidelight circuit so its stops back feed issues and doesn't trigger bulb out warning.
i got the idea from this thread (post number 5): http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...g-drls-so-they-come-on-when-unlocking.175709/
