My car is stage 2 APR. Over the last few weeks I've noticed I have turbo flutter when lifting off the throttle but very intermittently. Today at I'd say peak boost although I have no boost gauge there is a very fast flutter/hissing noise which sounds boost related and a slight drop in power. After a bit of research I'm thinking it's the diverter valve. Is it worth getting the uprated oem piston diverter valve from awesome gti?

Any other advice would be great.

thanks, Nick.

just get a gfb dv+ then you'll never have another issue.

OEM Rev D or G will be. I run TTE420 with APR @ 423bhp and it holds boost well.

Which is the best rev D or G? And where's best to get it from, the stealers?

Am I right in thinking rev G has a diaphragm and rev D has the piston?

Yes you are.

Does this fix compressor surge? I have no other problems. The sound I can hear isn't very loud at all but like the boost is fluttering/hissing.

I'm getting the same as this. This guy has changed to the rev D DV but still seems to be getting compressor surge. If you watch the video it's at 16secs and 44secs.

He has a mk 5 golf gti APR KO4 setup.

Thats because the oem dv doesn't shut off sometimes between gear changes, so yes it should as it regulates the boost pressure and gives better throttle response.

Rev D avoid. They dont do well under high pressure compared to G. Google it.

I get surge flutter between 3000 -4000 rpm on APR 1+ / 2+. Above that it goes away. 2 tuners said that is fine.

I've never had it before though. Only started the other day and the car doesn't seem to hold boost and seems under powered.

Until Rev G splits, it works well. Some people change these as a service item.

Rev G splits
Rev D lets boost pressure by especially under more than oem boost, AMD in essex, a well know and respected vag tuner only fit the patented gfb.
And they can handle in excess of 500bhp and probably upto 1000bhp+
Nice to see that the Ariel now fit them as standard to the Atom and Nomad pocket rockets.

You did put a link in a previous comment, is that the one to buy for the S3 8p? Is it a direct fit or does it attach to part of the original dv?

I fitted the GFB DV+ and i must admit its a great bit of kit, holds boost a lot better, ive also noticed it picks up a lot better through the gears, when i red lined it and changed gear i used to get a flat spot before it picked up that has completely gone and i also get a more defined dump valve type noise from the CAI when i change gear or come off boost. Im far from a mechanic and fitted it rather easily just following the diagram that comes in the box, the hardest part is getting access to the screw located at the back, hope this helps
