Hi Guys,

Anyone recommend or has bought aftermarket exhaust tips for their S3?

Mine are in a terrible state, the outside has gone a "milky" finish - I'm guessing the previous owner or Audi used some sort of "oven cleaner" product on them and they have gone "odd". No matter how much metal polish I've used on them the milky finish is staying where it is. The actual pipe ends are also heavily pitted.

I don't mind aftermarket ones if they look similar the the genuine ones. Or if you know the pipe size of the exhaust without the tips?

Thanks

From memory the exhaust is 2"x2 1/2" oval. The chrome tips just wrap over the very end of the exhaust so if look look at the inner surface then you're looking at the actual exhaust.

Hope these help! You can buy the standard ones in pairs from Audi but I don't know the P/N I'm afraid.

Thanks guys for your comments and measurements for the tips.

I just went out to the car and gave the first tip a good pull and off it came! didn't realise it would be that easy.

Tried cleaning it up using a mild rubbing compound and cloth/scourer but it still leaves the milky finish. Maybe I will try a more abrasive compound and see if that helps - if not I will just not look at them lol

I recall seeing someone on the S3 Facebook page who changed them for After Market tips!

Put them through the dishwasher then try again with Autosol or similar!

Good call Batch but to be perfectly honest if metal polish isn't touching it and the finish is staying dull it sounds like the chrome plating has croaked it!

Either black anodized tips,Glacier white tips, lol or a new design, trapezoidal......?

Yep your option 1 would get my vote mate.......................would look pretty snazzy on Batch's brief with his existing carbon biz etc

having read this, it gets me thinking I'm actually very surprised people are not pinching these if its that easy to take off! I've not tried on mine but very surprised its that easy.

people with black exhausts will probably be going around looking for clean S3 tips now! haha

I first discovered they can just be tapped off with a rubber mallet. Lots of ideas about how to get them off (I thought they had teeth going into holes in the actual exhaust) so I just crawled under and ha e them a whack! Hopefully my new ones won't get swifted!

They won't get pinched. They would just swap their dirty ones for your clean ones..Sort of like money laundering...lol
