On the Autocar website. I won't bother providing a link as they're buggers for changing them and then they don't work any more!

To be honest with you the S3 saloon has always had a great write up with the motoring press,so really nothing new here.

Thing about the S3 saloon that hasn't really gelled with me, is the image of a saloon ie....the corporate look it exudes ie....rep mobile....company car...fancy one at that, its not just the A3/S3... 3 series,5 series,A6.....etc maybe l am just a hatchback guy after all.

Interesting, as here, most reps drive hatchbacks/station wagons. So, sportsbacks always come across a little cheap and common, which they are of course, even in the A3/S3.

Seems the Audi marketing team understood that too :)

Yeah Australia has the same ethos as the state's they all love sedans/saloon's

They are the same price????? As you know?it's just Audi's marketing strategy that differentiates them both....magride 19" alloys
Add these 2 options to the sportback they are the same price....although l do prefer the looks of the saloon's front bumper/lower valance over the sportback car

Yeah maybe this thread coincides with the facelift thread... If it stays here it will just turn into Hatchback/Sportback v Saloon/Sedan thread..... And that's old hat...

It's an interesting review. It explains that they have improved the handling on FL models, more neutral on the limit, lesser tendency to under steer. Funny that wasn't pre-announced.

I think they've been planning the haldex tweaks and general handling improvements for quite some time. The saloon was very well setup in the first place as the PFL reviews will tell you but it's good Audi are listening to it's customers are striving for improvements.

@Jassy.................I shall take me wee biased saloon bonnet off for a sec and say that I do get where your coming from. Saloons historically have generally been for the older buyers in the UK whilst hatches for the young whipper-snappers.

It does depend a lot on how you spec them though. Seen a couple on here, particularly the red one which our German friend posted a few months back with BSP etc, that look certainly more look aggressive and young gun worthy! ..........which I guess means me Daytona number with chrome bizzo is right up the old farty end of the spectrum!! lol

Yeah that red one was awesome, but a few weeks ago whilst surfing the net,l came across all that red interior addenda on a German website. So it can be done mate, not that you would do that though not lol

I saw that. Maybe it's just me, but 1.4 and 150hp is as low as I'd go in any car regardless of how loaded with options it is.

Running the 1.6 Diesel now and would look at the 150bhp as a minimum.

Gonna try and be a bit more adventurous next time mate. I think the red compliments grey really well but for some reason my missus hates red!

Man up

I started driving in a 40hp vehicle with a 0-100 kph time of 20 seconds (if you were lucky), which was close to its top speed :)

Three speed shift.

Sadly, it was better made than my S3 in many aspects !

Edit - off topic but not likely to start a troll war ;)

Why not start you're own thread mate, for example your points of view on your ownership of your S3 so far.... That would be an option mate

Nah, would rather tack onto this thread (which is already a double up)

:)
Yeah l think we all have the complaints as far as build quality goes
Right back on topic, the new saloon has 9 bhp insignificant really in a car this size torque up by what 10nm is it....? Yeah nice and inviting tweaks to the new Audi buyer the 7speed s-tronic box even better, that grill is growing on me but not the headlight design....it will sell that's for sure it's a classy car

7 speed box is definitely the biggest plus over the PFL. I wonder if it's less inclined to smash though the rev limiter in dynamic while driving at slow speeds? Doubt it be honest coz you still got the 'granny' modes to fall back on if you don't wanna be revving the goolies off it pootling round town! lol

Already posted on the facelift thread yesterday...

Thanks for pointing that out. I shall make sure I do a thorough search of the entire forum before starting any more threads. You'll need to use longer words than fl and S3, though, if I am to be successful in my desire to placate the forum police.

(I know review has more letters, but it is rather commonplace)
