I'm in North London most days, and have ordered a car with mag ride. Happy to drop by and let you play once I get it. It'll be a facelift model though...
this is great news. both you and djalix will be helping out so many people with this.

I have found some update about SRT CAN connect.
The cable is a simple cable EL327 USB / RS232. In the specifications is required to read and write both of OBD2 CAN-BUS protocol. To use this cable have to purchase credits and therefore you can connect to their server to perform the coding. Connecting to the server is done through an application after you have logged in with the login that you get after you have purchase credits.
This is what is described on their Russian website :
1000 credits 20 EUR
3000 credits 55 EUR
5000 credits 90 EUR
10000 credits 170 EUR
For activation of ADS you need 2000 credits.
On a Italian site is this confirmed that it works for activation of ADS on a Q3 with MMI RMC.
I contacted the SRTCan makers and they confirmed that the activation of ADS on audi a3 8v not working. Finally the only option for A3 8V is the official activation by the dealer.

Great! :) When is your car due?
Your guess is as good as mine! My order placed in February has been cancelled by the dealer, and with facelift announcement the order book was closed. New orders don't open until May. So I'm effectively back at square one.

Very useful indeed. I still cannot understand why Audi would not have this enabled from the factory (like lesser cars have)

also can you figure out the pop up screen code? a lot of us would like to adjust the screen so it stays close every time we start up the car. I personally don't mind the radio staying on but prefer to have the screen stay closed till I press the button to open it up.

Cannot be done. Radio / Screen is either on and up or off and down.

thank you sir! prompt as always.

ill check it out today. I may have in the past but I don't remember. lol getting old

I don't know the answer I'm afraid but the joy of VCDS is that you can try it, if nothing changes then just undo it?

Not totally true, I read somewhere some options are one directional only and cannot to put back so best to only change what has been documented and tested.

what documentation have this info? or who has experienced the irreversible coding?

Never had a problem changing back myself and have used VCDS many years and on all sorts of VAG vehicles.

I have never heard of this rumor before so I wanted to be sure. also it kind of doesn't make sense as if you royally mess up you can just pay a fee and have any dealership reset the system back to stock.

Have had issues when trying to return / revert some changes in the past but updates to VCDS normally resolve this, eg:

v14.x (I believe) used to activate No Voltage Display and after testing could not change it back, Request Out Of Range. Had to wait for v15 before being able to revert the change.

I've seen a number of cars royally messed up and not fixable with VCDS after people have gone poking and then not being able to revert the changes.
Dealers have had to flash the cars back to factory at some cost!
Rosstech (for the known ones) do put warnings in the long coding helper, but there are plenty that are still unknown.

Definitely advised to tread carefully unless you REALLY know what you are doing.

Did that change actually work to display battery state of charge in the cluster? I would really like to have that.

This change produced no results that I could see / find on my car, hence why I wanted to revert, and don't believe it's related to Battery Level to be honest as there is a dedicated adaptation for that which I am still trying to work out the prerequisites for.

Wise advice ! ;o)

I always autoscan all cars I connect to and have the original tucked away safely for my car. The change logs are also a useful tool. To be honest I'm not one to mess and stick to the established proven codings. I also read the adaptation channel wording twice very carefully as some of them are incredibly similar in how they are written especially some of the lighting channels.

simple answer is, anything you do to your car is illegal. so keep that in mind when you change stuff out and youll be fine.

Is that legal?

No.
Rules say all indicators must flash in phase, the only exception being motorbikes which may flash front/rear alternately.

That said, I and many others have had this enabled for some time with no trouble. Probably indicated in front of 7-8 cops and nothing. It's unlikely they know the law that well, and just think it's a new car with fancy indicators (we're helped by the fact the R8/A6/TT/Q3 have dynamic sweeping indicators so they likely think it's a version of that).

Be interesting to see what happens at MOT time in a couple of years.

Something interesting to note in the new 16.5.0 Beta release notes :(
  • Support for Six-Digit security access codes
Only a million possible combinations, assuming they're using base-10. How long would that take to crack?

I take it that's a bad thing ?? Uh oh !
Easier / less time to work out 5 digit codes. A complete 6 digit code range will prolly take up to 8 hours to scan :(

VAG Group is going to want us to work harder for the good stuff moving forward it seems.

Well... after approx four hours of total travel time and approx 6 hours of security access code scanning (99999 number combinations) I now have all the codes for 14 - Susp. Elect. within the 5 digit range. Scanning of the 6 digit range is prohibitive at the moment due to the time it would take to complete but if the 5 digit codes I have found do not produce the desired results then I will revisit this project and try to work something out.

A HUGE thank you goes out to jungle650 for not only welcoming me in to his garage and allowing me access to his very well spec'd S3... but for all the great conversation as well. He is truly a top bloke! :)

So what did I find? As with the 03 - ABS there is a General "Control Module" Security Access Code and then Adaptation Channel Code. Code... Singular?! Yes, but I am not surprised by this given the number of available Adaptation Channels and the number of useful channels (bold):
  1. (4)-Activating and deactivating all development messages-DEV_Unit_0103
  2. (6)-Activating and deactivating all development messages-DEV_Unit_0104
  3. (1)-Activating and deactivating all development messages-S_100
  4. (2)-Activating and deactivating all development messages-S_101
  5. (3)-Activating and deactivating all development messages-S_102
  6. (7)-Activating and deactivating all development messages-Set_internal_fault_code
  7. (5)-Activating and deactivating all development messages-XCP
  8. (1)-Adapting high values-Body height left front wheel house edge
  9. (2)-Adapting high values-Body height right front wheel house edge
  10. (3)-Adapting high values-Body height left rear wheel house edge
  11. (4)-Adapting high values-Body height right rear wheel house edge
  12. Roller test bench mode; functional
  13. Enable Constant current on all dampers
  14. Enable Damper test mode
*2013/14/15 Vehicles all contain the same hardware and software.
  • General Module Security Code = 20103
  • Adaptation Channel Security Code = 24085
I had no time to complete any testing so any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Have fun!

Thx @DJAlix ,

People should all know the time and energy that you continue to put in not only on this forum but also behind the scenes, on all things VCDS and more.

Hopefully this will help people, especially those that have changed springs etc.

Most of us would not be able to do we already can without your dedication.

Thank you
Jungle
