Thought I'd fixed it, but...

Hi guys.

So, this afternoon, the boot stopped working completely (saloon). The only way it would open was manually with the key above the numberplate.

So, I pulled the loom about as I noticed my numberplate lights were off too. I pulled the grommet out of the boot lid and snipped into the rubber and revealed the earth wire in half. Easy fix, or so I thought...

I stripped and re-soldered the wires/heat shrunk, re-taped everything, popped everything back together. Number plates worked, the key fob worked. However, the boot release button in the drivers door pocket, although illuminated, doesn't open the boot. I went back to the boot and tried to open it with the handle, no joy.

So, I have sorted the issue with regards to being able to open the boot with the key fob, but the neither the switch in the door pocket or the push handle on the boot itself are working.

Is it likely to be another wiring issue (I couldn't see any visible damage elsewhere)?

Yeah, tool alert.

I thought I'd put the boot lock in the correct position, but I hadn't. So I turned it quarter of a turn, so looking at it if the boot is open, the key hole is in the vertical position. Hey presto. Obviously moved it when I was opening the boot earlier with the keys!

Problem solved! Pillock :lol:

Glad you sorted it in the end....even though the latter turned out to be user error

I know, what a dipstick... :grimacing::grimacing:

For reference, incase this thread is viewed in the future, this is the position the lock needs to be in!
