Hey all,

It has been a little while since i graced these forums with my presence  and I thought it would be fun to see how many F1 fans we have here, are you looking forward to the new season and what are your predictions? Are you as frustrated as I am about the current state of the qualifying?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Cheers,

They've all gone due to rubbish F1 rules.

BTCC = real racing .

Yeah i think most motorsports fans think that BTCC is much better at the moment, less predictable!

Looking forward to the new season? You've missed 2 races mate.

I agree with the comments though, it's becoming a bit false at the minute. It's the new boxing

HERE!!! Done the Drivers press conference, practice one and two, and the Team Principles press conference; and even some of the preamble and post practice 'so-called-expert crystal ball gazing

Blimey, if we didn't watch so much of this stuff on SKY Sports F1 we'd have to go and get a bl**dy job :racer:

GO Seb... :superman:

And don't forget the WEC 6-hours from Silverstone on Sunday mid-day/afternoon (on Motors TV UK); pound to a pinch it'll be a better race than the F1 tour from Shanghai..

GO Seb... :racer:

Oops, sorry jojo, Ghost, etc...

Last time I checked John @45bvtc , Lewis is ahead of Vettel on the Driver's Championship!

Go Seb! :superman:

By 6-points only, jojo; early days yet; and commiserations to my boy Seb as he didn't make the start in Bahrain so Hamilton got some extra practice... I'm sure Toto will keep Hamilton in front of Seb, but behind Nico, for the rest of the year, just...

And what about that Arrivabeni, he's like something out of the Godfather; happy he's on Sebastian's side...

Go Seb! :superman:

F1 rubbish now as cars and drivers are managed to much
Back in the 80/90s was better
Moto gp and touring cars getting more exciting
As for rallying that's completely out the window it's just no fun to go and watch now

I was a massive F1 fan. I've given up now as its sooooo boring. It used to be so good in the 90's with all the overtaking etc. before they introduced pit stops and refuelling!!! Bernie Ecclestone has ruined the Sport! The sooner they get rid of him and rearrange the sport from scratch, the better!

the new qualifying rules are abit bull **** like and Hamilton is getting pissy now because he hasn't won the first 2 races instead of the jumped up German. Oh well its still early in the season, hopefully get to meet some of the drivers end of May when I do the pit lane walk at the Monaco GP next month :D My mum and dad did the Melbourne GP at the start of the season and they said its the best race they have been to out of Monaco 4 times Silverstone 3 times and Barcelona once which they said was a crap track as its in the middle of nowhere.

Just as well they ditched the BS Quali format last time out.
Next year will see massive changes and hopefully closer racing across the field.
However, there has always been someone dominating in F1, whether that be a team or a driver! McLaren in the 80s along with Williams and Ferrari with Senna and Prost. Then Benetton with Schmacher, then simply Schmacher whatever he was in. Then McLaren again, the Seb with Red Bull, now Merc. There maybe less over taking and more strategy, but the outcome is the same as its always been.
That's the difference between F1 and Touring cars. F1 cars all have different engines, aero and chassis. Touring cars have the same engines with different chassis' and aero. Engines being the crucial difference bringing cars closer together. Hence why the BTCC field of 23 car (correct me if I'm wrong) have only 1.2sec covering 1st to last on the grid.
F1 will never go this way as the Manufacturer teams will never allow it. Always been this way and always will. If they try and force same engines for everyone through watch Ferrari and Merc walk away. Imagine a Merc engine in that Red Bull just now? It would be past the Merc's!
It's a money driven sport and that's hard to go backwards from.

Well the press release from Mercedes was a joke re Lewis's car, apparently he was lucky to finish the race as his car had zero water pressure for 16 laps, what a load of bull**** it wouldn't manage half a lap with no pressure, how stupid does Toto Wolff think we are?
Bring back manual gearbox, refuelling and decent tyres that last the distance and all the electronic diff lock malarky should go as well !

Suppose you better put me down as a fan then?

Don't get frustrated, Alex; just enjoy it for what it is, whatever it is, and when it is, and then move on; doesn't matter who wins it's the getting there and finishing - a very important point not fully understood by some - that's important... :racer:

And who you support, or don't support, can be FUN, too

There's more to F1 than just the racing. I really like the technical aspect of it, the little details that give you the tenths of seconds in performance, like the jet ignition system the top teams use, which will filter into road cars in the future.

Me too, jojo...

I'd base our UK schools curriculum on F1 as it involves just soooo much: mathematics, multi-national languages, rules, concepts, design, communications, competition, manufacture, finance, assembly, testing, global logistics, competition, man-management, politics, human resources, friendships, and even the occasional motor race with winners and losers - to name but a few...

And for twenty times or so every year it has a Word-wide audience displaying the efforts of oh so many

And there's no spitting, physical fouling, thuggish behaviour in front of your audience, and or nasty tribalism...

What's not to like about F1?

Well done Bernie...

To answer the Op's question - 'Where are all the F1 fans?'

Watching MotoGP! ;) :D

HI, alway been an F1 fan always followed Nigel Mansell for me one of the best clips of car control was Nige in Adelaide 1986 when he just about to win the title and his tire exploded at full speed the way he kepte that car under control was outstanding then there's the maiden race in Spain with Ayrton Senna in 91 what a race that was.
After Nige it was Damon Hill and of course Senna and now it's Lewis .
This month in Medow Hall Mercedes have had and event going and as part of the display was a Silver Arrow and Lewis race suit.
Here pics hope you like the steering wheel is amazing so i have left that a full size pic

wow, nice one i take it that what you do for a living ??
we used to forge the brake calipers for williams and a couple of other teams

Certainly do, freelance composite specialist.

Akebono calipers they use now. Very fluid design, 6 Ti piston calipers, real nice.

Well I love F1 and am a huge Hamilton fan. As a hobby I race Radio Control !/10 scale touring cars. For the start of this season I made a Hamilton tribute shell that I am running this season..
