Usage of adblue is closely linked to fuel economy so the lower the mpg the more adblue you will use.
is it worth speccing the larger adblue tank? I know its free..but not sure what difference it will make (except more weight)
I've spec'ed it, along with the larger fuel tank (think you have to have both together). I thought that the increase in weight of the actual tanks will probably be minimal and have minimal impact on MPG, but the larger capacity will be good to have. You don't have to fill either tank to the top if you don't want to. Seemed a no brainer for me as they are free of charge

I spec'd the larger fuel tank but I didn't know anything about the Adblue tank as it was never mentioned. Do you think it's true that if you upgrade one then the other will also be larger?
How often you will need to top up the Ad Blue is an unknown yet as this is the first Audi to have the technology fitted to it.
Audi reckon that you can go quite a while before it would need filled up again. I presume there is some kind of indicator in the car?

Apparently it comes up in the DIS with warnings at different points telling you how much to refill / what range you have left before it runs out: if it runs out completely the car won't start (it does warn you about that in the DIS as well, apparently!). You can refill from a bottle, larger canister or even a pump at some filling stations - useful list of filling stations with adblue fillers on a map here:

In the manual Audi say it will be used at a rate of 1-2.5% of the diesel fuel you use i.e. for every 100L diesel you'll use 1-2.5L adblue.

So if I have a Quattro with 58 Litre fuel tank, what size will the AdBlue tank be, the standard appears to be 24L?
Any info gratefully received!
So max useage is 1L per 100L of fuel, so 24L = 2400L fuel, based upon average of 40mpg, that is about 21,000 miles, minimum!

As above. The standard tank is 12L and you have to specifically option the 24L Ad Blue tank, regardless if you have the bigger fuel tank as standard.

No, I haven't ordered the larger one, so 12l for me then!
Still it should last 4-10k and cost about 6 quid to fill, there seems to be plenty of Adblue garages on the continent, so no issue I reckon.

On that note scotty76, without ending up with a list like something out of the Generation Game, what has been peoples experiences with getting freebies on a new car handover? I am not sure I'll be satisfied with a handshake!

I wouldn't bank on it, my dealer reckoned its a "fuel" and most likely you'll get about half a tank from the factory if you're lucky...at which point I told them they'd be filling it up (I species the large tank) before I took delivery, which they reluctantly agreed to.

The approach I've generally used in the past is:
(a) Any significant stuff (i.e. the overall % discount, finance terms etc.) are discussed at the start of negotiation once you're sure you want the car and how much you are willing to pay for it.
(b) Little extra things like full tanks of fuel, mud flaps etc. I would leave until you've dealt with (a) and the dealer knows you're a serious buyer and should be trying their best to get you to sign an order there and then. At that point I'd try and get as many low-value "freebies" out of them as possible and written into the sale contract prior to signing. As I've got better at (a) over the years though, the willingness from dealers to give a lot else away at this stage has noticeably reduced.
(c) Any freebies you get on collection that weren't covered by (b) I'd treat as a bonus. Having said that I've never collected a new car yet where I've not at least been given a bottle of wine & a bunch of flowers (for the wife) or some toys (for the kids) without having to ask. If something like that wasn't forthcoming I'd certainly let them know I was disappointed. If you've done a decent job with (a) and (b) though I really cant see any incentive for them to give you any high value freebies you're not expecting on collection...and they really shouldn't have the margins left to do it anyway.
Dealer told me half tank was standard on collection, I told him to stop been daft and fill it up or he wouldn't see my business again. Said he couldn't but on collection day it was full!
Mine was the same, only half a tank of adblue from the factory, dealer filled it up no problem (or says he did!), only half a tank of fuel though
The adblue system is on the A6 already, and you usually get around the AVS mileage on the car, I had a loan A6 last week while I waited for my new A6 to be ready and that had the addblue waring light, which stated 1100 miles before the car would not start again. The adblue stuff is cheap enough 12 liters for less than £10 from TPS.
There is no MMI monitoring of the adblue tank.
Yes, so for I've hear the maximum DIS warning I've seen is 1500 miles, so that should give you enough time to fill it back up again.
Update on the AdBlue notification, I now have AdBlue range in the DIS readout telling me I have 2000 miles left; the car has just passed 12000 but I suspect that it was topped up when I purchased it in August ex-demo at 4000 miles.
Must be something else tho. He probably only dies between 5/8k miles a year. Prob fills it up every 6/10 months.
Saw my first ad blue pump today - so at 7988 miles and having never put any adblue in my 24 litre tank - I thought it would be wise to top it up...
Only squeezed 6.6 litres - £5.94p @ 89.9p per litre - so I was pretty pleased with that! - it must surely have been full when I collected and would seem to have used approx a litre for every 1200 miles.

Have you ever bought through CarWow? You get a "thank-you" and that's it lol. But I'll take the extra 2k that it was cheaper than any other dealer was willing to offer around here.
