Had this problem before with one of the wires that powers the boot release, fog lights and number plate lights breaking inside the flexi between the body and boot lid. Fixed it "temporarily" 3 years ago by soldering a new piece of wire to restore power but it has gone again.
My question is do the wires have multiplugs either end and so available as a replacement? Just asking to save taking panels off only to find the answer is no!
Picture attached to back up my description. Broken wire is in this flexi.

Just replace the wire with a more heavy duty one mate.

Mine had the same problem the other week and the brown earth wire had snapped clean off in 2 places, soldered in a thicker earth wire and tucked the surplus into each end and done.

Cheers Dani B19. Getting it sorted this weekend, my mate has some decent wire for the job.

You'll be fine then mate, just make sure you put a bit extra wire in for the slack.

If possible, use a cable of same or slightly higher rating but made up from thinner / finer wire but higher number of strands. The softer outer insulation generally offers improved resistance to cracking (thus leading to wire breakage) too.

I'm sure it'll be sorted easily
