I have an a4 avant b7..

This one is for the pedal bike enthusiasts.
Ive just acuired a set of thule roof bars
Question is
Which bike carriers do yous recomend?

Obvious in wanting sturdy and reliable...dont want my bike beating me in a race going down the road!

Im also wanting something quick and easy to work with, I would rather spend more time having fun on the bike rather than using all my time up faffing putting the bike on and off

...pictures are good too
Cheers

use the Thule proride 591 myself. good enough and never had anything come off yet.

I have two Thule 591 ProRides too! Easy to use, very adjustable and are pretty solid. Two guys at work have the same carrier and bought this based on their recommendation. All you need is a strap to tie down the vertical frame/clamp when it's not in use or as an extra safety mechanism for when the bike is on - I wrap it around the frame clamp to make sure that the bike is as secure as possible.

I do most of the my riding on my own and have sea sucker hornet set up, I didn't want rails and didn't want traditional rack for fear of damaging the spoiler. It's great. It 2 minutes to get the bike on and when not in use i just leave it in the boot

Burgo...i have never seen that set up before lol

That seems to obscure the number plate though. Have you not had any bother from the plod?

No not yet and I've been using it over 18 months now. I do usually have it sat a bit lower than that so the seat is on the bumper and the padded seat cover stops it marking it. I also put a small bungee cord round the seat post and under the boot sill to stop it bouncing/sliding. I've been over the recommended max speed rating of 80mph loads of times and done a bit of spirited driving round Wales to get to the trails and it hasn't budged once. There is an indicator on each suction pad that you can see when you look through the rear mirror to see if it's losing suction. Which is reassuring when you've got a 6k bike on the back. I will admit I was a bit sceptical about the strain on the window seals but the bike only weighs 12kg So figured it'd be fine

I use Merc bars with Thule 591's. Never had any problems other than driving under a low bar ripping the bikes off the roof
