I'm looking at getting my 19" wheels refurbished but I'm wondering what would be a good price.
I've been quoted £300 for a drop-off-the-car-and-pick-up-the-next-day job. Does that sound fair?

On my last car (bmw don't hate me) my 18's were £220 drop of first thing pick up later the same day. So your price not too bad.

I once paid £450 incVAT at a place near me for a 1 day job powder coat, admitedly their quote before didnt show the VAT so was a shock when i was presented with the bill, and I wouldnt knowingly pay that again, but the work on them was faultless.

I last payed £200 for a wheel paint respray but i did the prep and took a few days to get them back, so given all that , your price seems pretty fair for a day job.

The price for mine was full acid dip, fully clean (repair if needed, which they didn't need any) fully power coated, all undercoated plus any choice of colour.

I've had a good few sets done over the years now all between £240 cheapest and nearly £500 dearest. I'm yet to find somewhere I'd call faultless, I've had some good jobs done cheap and some shocking jobs at the upper end of the price range.

Where are you located?

Ryan

I'm in Teesside. Had mine done @rsalloys at Hartlepool. Top guy Ray. If I needed another set done he'd be who I'd definitely use. Some of the finishes he does are unbelievable.

I'd say that's not a bad price, Iv been quoted £60 a wheel for my 20" and that's dropped off without tyres

Try romax in Stockton.
Been doing it years and do a really good job
Yeah I looked at Romax before going to rs alloys.

You must be based near me CHEZ where abouts are you based I'm in Billingham.

I've been quoted £120:00 to repair my rotor, slightly curbed, not 'that" much damage, seems a lot for 1 wheel, but that was an Audi dealership

Most dealerships out source that kind of work. Plus it's normal for them (if in house) to just spray them not powercoat them. My brother in law has his wheels refurbished at bmw, all they did was spray front edge looked *****.

They're diamond cut, not sure what they'd do, if they'd need recutting that is, it's just the actual edge, I could wet & dry it myself but would rather it was done by a pro. Audi only warranty them for 6 months due to complaints where the lacquer has peeled from people using harsh wheel cleaners, which suggests they aren't the great a repair in the first place

I know ray @rsalloys has the equipment to re-cut/refurbish diamond cut alloys.

One comment that I will make here, I bought a used set of four Audi A4 B8 18" 5 spoke alloys for use in winter only, one was nasty so I bought a single brand new old stock one to replace it, then after removing the duff tyres handed them into my local powder coater. They came back look good but not perfect, not a problem as I was only using them in winter, handed them into Costco and got Michelin Alpin Pilots fitted, so far so good! Now three winters later I discovered that all four are leaking at the valve body/wheel contact point, so I needed to get all four valves replaced and wheels rebalanced! So, what I think happened here was, powder coating process puts a thicker coating on the wheel than factory paint and lacquer, so the valve hole would have ended up being too small for the valve, so Costco tyre fitters probably reamed these holes open again and so damaged the powder coating at that point on each wheel - and so the moisture has got under the coating and is cracking it, when the valve bodies get handled during normal pressure checking, powder coating material has moved and caused a leak. When I get my Audi S4 B8 19" 7 double spoke wheels refurbished (summer only use), I'll be getting them painted and lacquered to avoid that happening again.

I did also find out that when you get powder coated wheels back, you need to open back out the centre bore and the wheel centre trim hole or they will not fit.

Never had any issues with the 2 sets I've had powder coated losing air or peeling.

Be careful about getting any rotor repairs done on the cheap - and make sure you understand the process they intend to use.
I've seen one of those smart repair guys paint match a rotor's diamond cut face on the boss's A6 BE and from a couple of feet away you couldn't spot it (and I was really looking).
I'm sure it'll only last a couple of months but thats long enough for them not to have to warranty the work.
Personally, wheels are probably the most important thing and the finish has to be spot on. I have the experience of an Audi "refurbishment" and I wouldn't put them on a wheelbarrow.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems like it is a decent price so will go ahead with it.
Will probably go for an anthracite grey as my car is grey as well. Should give a good stealth look.
I will update on the result.
Cheers.
