TTS ENGINE COVER-BOLT ISSUE RECTIFIED

Did you go for a drive with the bolt fitted by any chance? Just wondering what the rubber o ring is actually for on the original...

I know the rocker cover gasket goes around the hole so perhaps it may benefit from a washer?

I didn't go for a drive unfortunately, Have to say it was very solid though, no movement at all.

Here's the thing the gasket goes around the outside of the valve cover the bolt holes are not individually gasketed. I have seen even on my car when one of those bolts will bleed a little oil. I am sure it's easy enough to remove the pieces from the original valve cover bolt and place them on to your remanufactured part. What you have done there is quite amazing... kind of makes me proud to be British nobody in the states could help me.

Not that I'm not always proud to be British of course... :)

Yeah i think thats the best way too, although i will get hold of one tomorrow and make sure it goes on. Else i'll find a washer that fits.

Here's the original

Tried to take off the gasket but it won't budge so I'd say you might have to cut off the head of the bolt.

Do me a favour mate, measure the width of that top metal washer thats built into that bolt for me?

Thanks. Im going to order a whole rocker cover tomorrow so i can have it on my desk infront of me. Ill get a suitable washer and o-ring and report back. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Thanks for your help guys. :)

The final revised bolt is now complete - pics of the final product to follow. Fitted it to a B7 2.0 TFSI - only difference being the engine mounted the other way but it fitted like a dream.

To the few who have bought the covers in the last couple of days, you'll get the revised bolts in the post ASAP.

Cheers

Mike

Thread length looks different but its not, the difference is in the non threaded part at the bottom - I've accounted for that.

T30 bit I think it is and just undo them....replace with these 2.

Its very easy...if you can control a spanner for the small ball screw on a very very basic level you'll have no worries. T30 bit in the end of your screw driver and you'll be away, or you can just turn these new ones with a spanner aswell - think its a 15mm.

Long nose pliers and pull - the o-ring is a tight-ish fit in the rocker cover.

Hey there Mike drop me a private message when you can I will take 4 of those if possible and that's if you don't mind... you've really done a great thing for all of us by remanufacturing those bolts....

Yeah no probs - i'll just make sure the couple of kits I've sent out fit correctly before I commit to any more. I have tested them myself but to put my mind at ease I'll await their response.

Their new bolts are in the post tonight, so with a bit of luck by the weekend we should see some photos :)

:) That's fair enough just don't forget me LOL you're my only hope. Trying to get my car finished up for SOWO 2016. You are obviously investing time and money.... enthusiasts like you are an example to everybody...

Your not joking... managed to get them out by tying a knotted bit of string around them as the long nose pliers kept slipping off... now im searching in the engine bay for the one that shot out somewhere !!!

I haven't actually been using the long extended bolts.

I've found it sits happily with just the small front one. I need to get round to getting a magnetic but and taking the screws out the rocker.

When you are happy enough with the feedback please send me a PM for my shipping info and payment arrangement. Thanks Mike!

As now all good, thread title has been changed to suit. :)

Just received mine all excellently packaged and a doddle to fit really, took all of 5 minutes. Very happy with the result.
