@RO65ERS is this still of benefit with me running my R600? I can't quite make out how this fits within the grille/intake assembly?

i will do it all again over the weekend and take some pictures of how to!
its very straight forward - 4 screws and its out in your hands!

i then used a 8mm drill bit in the middle of it, then a jigsaw from there to work around the edges, then a dremel to smooth down the rough edge.

your R600 fits to the OEM section on the front or is it supplied with a new one ?

if its a new one, i cant comment BUT if its on to the OEM one, get it done! There is no RAM air at all on the OEM system. going by the trim, it has ram air to the engine bay, but that is also the only section to get air in, so it'll be mixed with hot air from the engine.

I think I found the answer in a diagram mate... Is the bit you removed the same location as the front piece in this pic?

yes mate, i opened up the part on the right hand side of the picture. Looks like its already done on that unit.

the only other thing i want to do now, is if you look to the left and right of your audi rings on the front grill, its sealed up there too. i plan to remove the grill and remove that section so there is more air ram to the inlet!

Yeah I was thinking the same, might just use a large drillbit.

that is exactly what i was thinking of doing! BUT, it looks like i can remove the grill and remove that section completely! which i will try first, if not ill be cutting it out.

Keep me posted please mate! That and my CTS TIP elbow should finish it all off nicely!
I'll have a spare one from group buy, if anyone wants one.

i was going to order a turbo technic inlet pipe / elbow because i like its all in one design!
does the CTS elbow go onto the OEM pie from the air box? or would i need another hose, i.e forge ?

EDIT : what price are you asking for it ?

just seen that CTS does a TOP too. very nice.

The group buy price is £120 posted, I believe it DOES fit the standard intake pipe. No mention of any requirement for another.

Did you notice on the left side inlet that on the rear it's open into the engine bay I thought of blocking off the outlets .What u think ?

That will stop cold air getting to your engine.
These engines are very sensitive to heat.
I think I'd rather keep it there to keep it cool. Well as cool as it can be.

For those with remaps, do you still get your car serviced at the dealer and do you tell them its mapped so they dont remove it?

Pretty much set on APR Stage 1 + TCU for my S3 after the first service, just wondering for servicing next time

Yes if you could make a diy description of what you have done to the oem air box I will more than likely follow suit

Yepp, they know it is tuned ...
Keep it at the dealer for warrenty issues other than engine .... If i will get them ... no issues with my car ...

Got a Vbox yesterday.

Did't not have the time to make some 0-100 runs, but did two on the highway 100-200.
It does about 10 sec (9.9) on the vbox. a bit disappointed tough. Thought i would get better results.

Does anyone know how to get the 100-200 reading on the vbox screen ? didn't find it. Results cam from reading data with the software.

Finally, nice one!

To get 100-200 on the screen go onto menu and acceleration testing and then input your start and stop settings, so 100 and 200.

Have a play and let me know your results, I also have a website which tells you the height difference over the run so you can see if it's correct or not.

9.9 is good but there should be more in it? What gear did you start?

I started in third. In four it was 10+.

That sounds fast. More like what I would be expecting from a stage 2 APR car.

Would be good to see his 0-60mph and 0-100mph times too.

I should be faster.
The 410 pk and 550nm are real.
Torque is 500nm at 2750 rpm. Max out at 3750 at 550nm.
I will make some runs this week.

But it makes a discision to get a TTE more likely

I'd expect your car to be around 9.0 if you're a real 400bhp.

Let me know when you've done a few runs and send me your files if possible, I'd like to compare them with mine.

bad launch but what time is that to 100mph?
I hit 114 in 11.9 seconds.

I had my standard map put on a week before my first service and had the map put back on an hour after getting the car back.

Now I have a different intake and turbo inlet pipe I probably won't bother next time.

Hmm toying with a Vbox myself but read about some sort of correction program so need to find out about this before buying one. Would use it with the iPhone app.

Was that from today mate? What was your 60ft?

That's the same time and terminal I done last year on stage 1.

I'd imagine it's going to be more 9 seconds to 100mph being honest.

my 60ft was 1.81-1.99 seconds.
Car is capable of faster than that, if you watch the video before that one you will see why!

Agreed! VAG speedo's are notoriously out and this can be seen when you are crossing the line with your speedo reading around 120mph, yet you are actually doing 114mph.
Nice results though mate and consistent with what we are seeing from others with similar mods on pump fuel.

Does somebody know how much power or Time i will loose when upgrading to 20 inch BBS CI-R compared to the 19 inch Stock wheels?

Traction was terrible on Saturday.
I could only manage a 12.2@116.8 due to not being able to get the power down
60ft was only 1.96 too iirc

haha i know who you are now!
I think we ran against each other for the 1st run?

Only Audi I went against was an A5 later in the day.
I think we were next to each other at one point in the staging lanes though.
Watched ya vids n realised lol

www.vboxverify.com

You upload your file and it breaks it all down for you into the acceleration categories, it also tells you if the run was valid and the slope across the run, so if it was up hill or downhill.

regarding the IC from MTM I asked them directly to know if it was plug and play.

MTM's answer was : Yes, it is PnP.

How do you find the Forge BOV with the DSG box? Any random 'dumps' you aren't expecting?

Not really. Works like it should. buth you have to get used to the sound when you drive normal.
