looking for some input... I'm thinking of making the change from my current Golf R to the RS3, my dilemma is the deals available.
I've read the posts about not getting much discount on the RS3 so coming from the Golf R where I picked up a stupid cheap lease deal, the jump to the RS3 on a PCP seems fairly steep...
Are there any decent lease deals worth looking at on the RS3 or is not worth bothering with?

You will not get a cheap deal and thank **** for that I say! Ditto all the other can I get 15% off posts.

TX.

Not necessarily looking for a 'cheap' deal as I've already read and realise they don't seem to be available, my question was more along the lines of. is leasing a better option then PCP, like Golf R was / is?
I didn't word my post very well...

I looked at both options and over a 3 year term, the lease deal I was looking at was cheaper by around £300. This was for a car with £6k options.

This was from the same Audi dealer - I didn't bother with any brokers

I went with the PCP in the end as it gives me more options at the end of the agreement.

Yeah.
I checked lease deals-due to cars not being readily available there aint any incentive for them to offer discounts which lead to cheap lease deals. Supply and demand. Only thing with lease is they pay the road tax too.

The ones I've been looking at have been around 520 per month with 3 months down over 2 years, no idea how that compares to a decent pcp, if there's not much in it a pcp will be the better option. Just presumed it would have to be over a longer period of time?

have you driven a RS3?

if you change the R for the RS3 you will regret it in some aspects.

regards

By regret if you mean he won't see another one on every street corner then yes.

Not driven an R but see quite a lot of them on the road. Drove the RS3 for a few days as a pretty basic spec and it was amazing to drive. Coming from my Evo it was no where near as raw or enjoyable but a lot more refined and a better place to be daily. The sound the 5 pot makes as well is very nice compared to a shouty 4pot

Have you driven both?

I didn't enjoy the r the sound is horrific like an old ridge racer arcade and just felt flat.

I drove two Mk7 Rs (one DSG, one manual) before I bought my 8P RS3. After reading/watching all the reviews I was expecting to be really impressed. I wasn't. The soundtrack was rubbish, the performance felt very ordinary; the car just didn't feel special or exciting in any way.

The one I got for the day was a manual and thought that would be even better than a dog nope not at all the rs3 tho just had a drama noise and feel the r could not touch tho to be fair there wasn't much in the handling the rs3 felt a bit more nose heavy but I like that after my b7 rs4

I have driven the RS3, and to be honest, its the engine that sells it to me. Yes the R may be the better all rounder, but i'm now looking for something a little different.
The are plenty of R's around where i live, and as good as the engine is in the R, there's no real 'soul' the fake engine note is OK, but gets boring, plus the whole look of the R, is just a bit too safe.
I'm not knocking the car at all, is fantastic at a being an all rounder, but 'jack of all trades master of none' really is right.
The RS3 has one key factor and that is the engine, who cares if it cant go round corners :p

Whats the sort of rough payments and term to expect on a PCP ? I've not looked yet, only at leases.

Yup that's my thoughts I think the gti and gtd look better than the r and its def the engine and the Rs badge that sells the rs3 for me and the interior

Totally agree. The GTI styling is much nicer than the R though I hear the R is a great car so not going to dispute that.
I think a few of the RS3 owners who have had the cars for a while will tell you its v good round corners-just a bit of understeer due to heavy lump of an engine up front but still corners great according to guys with them.
Any test figures you see the figures are negligible difference and if you want the quickest get the civic type R which as you know is a monstrosity.
The Ford,The Civic,The VW or Audi-all in same ballpark so its just a case of what floats your boat and financially stacks up for you.
First world problems mate.

Lots of reviews say the Audi understeers, muted handling blah blah blah, but lets be honest who actually drives to the max on public roads all the time ? i certainly dont, some may take it to track on the odd occasion, but i think some get all wrapped in what the figures say rather then how the car makes you feel.
For me i want something with a bit more character then the Golf R, but also a car that can cover distance quickly and be practical, the RS3 seems the one. I'll probably never drive the Golf R or the RS3 anywhere close to its capabilities, buts is nice to have the power to point and shoot whilst overtaking if i need it, plus something that sounds cool on the inside and out.

I just wanted to create some doubts to the OP.

Don't want another thread saying which one is better.

to your question, yes.

at home we have the S3 and RS3.

I drove the golf R and I loved it, it handles better than our S3 and better than the RS3.

If the OP wants excitement and the 5 pot sound so no doubts.

but if what he wants is a bad sound and better cornering habilities, then keep the R.

regards

Ps: here in Andorra we don't see the R or S3 in every corner...
