hi guys and girls got an annoying water leak , my rad started leaking about 3 weeks back so swapped that for a new one .....sorted no leaks ... Sound then last week saw some coolant under the car so inspected couldnt see any leaks , had a quick look last night and there seems to be water sat on the block around the oil dipstick /thermostat area but i cant see a crack in the housing or see it actually leak , seems to only leak when its not running and ideas would be great , thanks in advance .

check the flange at the back of the head , good chance its coming from their .

Thanks ,Ill check the bung tomorrow where is said flange located jim ?

You may have to drain coolant system and remove thermostat before you can check, you'll have to see if the plastic has broken and gone towards the impeller. It's a job I am looking to do.

Thanks , its just annoying i have done the cambelt water pump , then rad and fitted a nice clean expansion tank now i have a leak from a random area .

Did the pipe to the thermostat housing click fully home? That pipe can be a pain to reconnect, last time I tackled it I sprayed the pipe/o'ring with silicone spray and it slipped straight on.
I suspect the thermostat housing has been damaged on refitting said pipe. The coolant flange on the rear of the head usually leaks onto the gear box and down, so I wouldn't expect that to be the problem.

I havent touched the thermostat just the ends that connect to the rad , im going to pick up a nee thermostat housing and swap it , can anyone give me an idea about said bung near the thermostat that goes i just cant see it and would like to get one so if it is that i canseap it at the same time .
