Door control module

so i have just bought a used door control module for my S3 8p as my one is playing up and not unlocking the passengers door. will it need to be coded in or will it just plug and play?

i have managed to buy one that was made only 1 month different to orignal one.

any help appreciated
 
You'll need to code it to ensure that the coding is the same on your old one otherwise some things may not operate.
 
As said it'll need to be coded. Make a note of the coding on your old module so that it can be replicated.

If you're anywhere near West Yorkshire I don't mind doing the coding. Otherwise look on the VCDS users map to find someone closer to home :)

thanks for the replies. unfortunately there isnt anyone with vcds near me that has logged on in the last year. i did change over my module today just too see if it worked. everything worked fine for about half an hour then the door no longer unlocks again but window works with one touch fine.

you say get the coding from my oem module and use it on the new but it its not unlocking the door on the old one will it not copy it and it not work again on the new one?. ( dont know much about vcds :) )
 
Was everything working ok on the original module before you started having issues ? If so then the coding will be ok to replicate from old to new module without a problem.

I think the fault is the module not doing as the coding says it should rather than a problem with coding itself.

The function being present and then not working supports that.

So your passenger door is not unlocking? How did you determine that the control module was the issue and not the lock assembly. Are other features of the door not working too?
 
I had this problem too and it was the door lock mechanism that was faulty which was a straight swap and no coding involved
 
If it has been already suggested that the Door control is faulty, fit the new one you have and try the door locks. If they start working no problem it's fixed.
