A3 or Q3

I currently have a 2014 A3 1.4 COD S-tronic in Daytona and absolutely love the car and engine!

Considering going for the saloon this time around or considering the Q3 both with the same engine I have now, what are your thoughts and anyone with any experience of the Q3 with or without the COD engine?

I know we are all biased on the A3 but just gauging your responses.

If you want an attractive car to be proud of - go for the A3 saloon.
If you need a van go for the Q3 :whistle2:

I do agree the saloon is much nicer than the sportback but the wife likes prefers the higher driving position.

Out of the two unless you need a bigger load space, then I'd also say A3 saloon, lovely looking car.

The q3 has older technology and the platform I believe, had one as a loaner and hated it....

Just done a quote for the 1.4 saloon and an S3 saloon on Orangewheels with a few options. I then when to the Audi site and used their PCP config tool, not as big of a difference as you would expect on the monthly payments!!!

Unless you are restricted on insurance ie age/points etc. It would be a no brainer to go for the S3... I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the 1.4 engine It's a very capable and economical engine The missus has a 1.4 Seat Leon Fr 150 bhp and that is a lovely car to drive.

Not looking at an S3 at all I think that was a typo in S32B's post, would like one but doesn't fit in with my daily commute.

I still stand by what I said about the 1.4 engine tho...The A3 saloon looks so more appealing to the eye than the Q3 :friends:
 
No I did mean an S3, I was curious as to what the cost difference would be :) Both came in under what I want to blow each month, may as well go S3 in my case :)

Sorry....Q3 S line plus for me the A3 is getting a tad dated looking for my taste new Q3....is a handsome looking car.....l really like this RSQ3......BY THE THE WAY the S-Line plus with the BSP doesnt look that different to this car.....led headlights standard as are the dynamic led indicators

At the moment the Q3 is lagging well behind its small SUV competition. The Kia Sportage and Hyundia Tuscan are much better looking cars and much more bang for yer Buck!
The A3 Saloon white is a much nicer car and cabin. No brainer. If your wife likes a higher seating position look at the two above.

My dealer offered me a silly deal on an in stock RS Q3 few weeks a go. Can't sell them apparently.

The normal s-line Q3 is a fine car but the tech inside is pretty ancient and a pain to use when driving (MMI control wheel is on the dash). Heating controls also look like something from 2005.

The SE / Sport A3 does look a bit bland not but think s-line with xenons still looks super fresh IMO. As a package it is much fresher than the Q3.

Both cars are pretty good - think if space is a must then the Q3 is obviously the winner.

Sorry jassy. But to me the RS Q3 from the side looks like a 'Tonka' toy . Looks a little better from the front tho..
Looks wise I like the new Kia Sportage..But I am not sure on drive and quality as I have never really had a good look and drive in one..If I had the choice of the OP it would be the Saloon in S Line guise and of course in white..:friends:

Are those wheels on the Kia in the advert they have on tv? They don't seem to do the rest of the car justice in that picture IMO..

No need to aplogies mate...we all have different tastes in cars l just think the A3/S3 is getting a bit dated looking now as for other Korean Suv's l wouldnt touch them with a barge pole....gash inside...Contemporary and fresh looking but wont stand the test of time...and are Korean most of all

Q3 wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't neutered in HP.

It's HP is way too low for me compared to my A3 2.0T.

But if SUV is a must, the BMW X3 only starts at $38K .... yes I'm only mentioning it because it has a "3" in it's name. The X1 is just as neutered as the Q3.

Maybe it's just the wheels ...Looks like they could do with filling the arches or maybe lowering??

Ye might get banned for the Blue Picture...lol..that car has been lowered mate and is the older RSQ3....not much of a difference in them really bar the tailights

It is older but it's so much more in proportion than either the Q3 or Q7 (even the new one). Mate has the new Q7, simply stunning inside but just too damn long overhangs. The Q5 doesn't. I'd even go with this

It's the Touareg. The new Tiguan is a nice looking small SUV as well. Although it's getting much bigger!

I've just come from a small SUV no friggin way I'm going back again!!

A3/S3 saloon is one of the nicest looking cars on the road in my totally unbiased opinion!! lol

Its the difference between driving a tractor or driving a car and believe the saloon is the car. Everything about the q3 is yesterday...
