Hi,

I've narrowed my car choice down to 2 but not sure which one to buy! Both A3 1.4 TFSi, both same spec with full service history, one is a 2010 with 15,000 miles and the other is a 2012 with 46,000 miles, which one do people think?

Cheers, Dunc

2012 with 46, newer the car the better.

i wouldn't be going for an older car with low miles as it suggests it's only been doing short/town runs which isn't good in the long term.

Have you seen both? Whichever is in better condition to be honest but I'd be swayed more towards the newer if it were me, it's 2 years newer not as if it's the same year but different mileage

Good luck!

Cheers Dave w

Assuming both have been well cared for then definitely the newer one. Mileage is nothing on these engines...

2012. Stuff usually starts going wrong on older cars irrespective of mileage.

2012 one, low mileage cars indicate short trips or them standing for long times not being used. The 2012 one has on average done between 11-15k per year so that will have to be motorway miles, these are much less stressful on the mechanical elements than a town car!

Well I will play devils advocate and say the low miles car, 3000 miles per year, not even broken in, if its had oil changes every year then yes, as for cars going wrong the older they are, dont agree, Audi`s are solid, mine is 10 years old and bought with 38k now 60k and not a thing gone wrong apart from rear wiper motor, the weakest point with vag cars, look for higher spec car with dsg, sunroof, xenons, bose sound system, cruise sat nav, they all add to desirability when selling and retain value.
