S6 4B brakes on A6 4B C5

Seeing as there are clearly some brake experts on this thread, rather than start a new thread I thought I'd grab the tail of this one.
I run a 2001 S6, the brakes were great when I first got it, 35K ago, I know one side had previously had a recon caliper, however things have gone off the boil recently. I recently fitted new discs and pads all round, still pretty poor, I am conscious that the front calipers are a bit tight and could now do with a rebuild, am I better off rebuilding or replacing the HP2s or is there a cheap sensible alternative? I'm not interested in flash for flash sake, I don't drive hard so don't need to upgrade particularly and any option has to be on my stock discs under stock 17" S6 rims. TIA.

If you have the Hp1 caliper with 4 pads per caliper then upgrading to Hp2 caliper and s4 carriers will be a wise move, not sure they will fit behind your 17" wheels though but it's a worthwhile upgrade.

I've gone for A8 D3 4.0tdi/6.0 petrol front calipers 360mm discs and bolt on. They're massive so luckily I am already running 25mm spacers all round to clear my airbags.

I am on 19's though
Will post photos fitted during the week.

They look massive, are you sure they bolt on Chris ? I have a d3 s6 v10 in the garage now and looking at the twin pot calipers and massive brakes i had doubts they fit bolt on ! Anyway, they are a heavy lump of iron so i hope the car still handle as it should ! Good work if they bolt on !!!

My mate has a D3 and has done the same conversion he had the same brakes I currently have so hoping it's straightforward otherwise I've blasted and painted them for no reason!!
The calipers are ally but carriers are steel. Will let you know how I get on, mate with the D3 reckons they're spot on.
