Ok 350 mile round trip on saturday , and 2000 miles on the clock. Got 34 mpg fully loaded with daughter and uni stuff.
After 350 miles still felt good , not tired at all.
Two weeks ago had a play round country roads using paddles in dynamic. :)
Really happy , as long as it is reliable this could be a keeper...

Anyway, just saying loving it....

I did a 200 mile trip today and feel the same.

Not the quickest car on the road but it doesn't need to be as it is just a great little car to drive. Attracts a lot of looks.

Said it before and I'll say it again - S3 is an extremely complete and competent package, given its price point:

- exterior looks
- interior quality
- performance
- driving feel
- transmission and drivetrain
- comfort
- technology
- and options galore

Done 150 mile round trip taking my daughter back to uni yesterday. Trip back I pushed it to say the least to get a record time of 1 hour 7 mins for 75 miles..not to shabby and still got a fraction over 30mpg for the whole trip

Yes agree and felt complimented yesterday when a Merc C63 AMG felt he need to make a point on the outward journey to Canterbury.

sounds good i drove mine to paris new year with 800 miles on the clock and did 800 miles so officially run in!!! did 2 tanks a fuel there and back doing 90mph averaged 36mpg was really impressed. me and a few mates went for a drive the other day and hit 19mpg driving hard. which is what i used to get in my r32 and m3s on a good day!

S3 has a lot to offer, which is something you realise after back-to-back road testing other nice cars!

Example, I took an M4 out last Friday....

Came back with a huge smile (obviously) and very much enjoyed the post-drive reflective thought process, which incidentally was that the car was an incredibly focused, angry and violent M-car!

Anyhow, only reason for saying all this is that taking the criteria I previously listed, the S3 is a very competent reference point.

it does. i do love m cars massively. but i tell you my two favourites have always been m3s and s3s before rs3 was released ive owned several of each and both great fun in such different ways. the m3 is pretty unbeatable/.angry and almost un tamable if you dont know what yorue doing. the m4 to me drove just like the e46 m3 with bucket loads of torque bottom end which is what it was missing. but the s3 is just massively massively capable.

the turbo lag the scream of the turbo the comfort the cruise the cool/classy look. just a brilliant car. i love the rs3 but the one problem i have with the rs3 it makes the s3 look more average than it is as its been knocked off the podium

Musicegbdf glad you like the car, it's great car to travel distance in, it has its faults but still a very competent car.

I had a forward order in for an RS3 sedan due in early 2017. I've cancelled it.

Why ?

After 6 test drives in the RS3 SB, I found it too obnoxious as a daily, lumpy in the front end and had no more kit than my S3.

I'd buy one as a weekend car but not as a replacement for our S3 daily.

Thing i don't like about the RS3, which is nothing to do with the car, is that its a weak upgrade proposition.

Realise a 20% loss on a lightly used S3 and add €20k to get something that performs better, sounds amazing, but is otherwise the same. Errr, no thank you.

Now, if I could've switched the order to an RS3 and had it delivered quick enough, well different story.

Without and l mean without turning this into another gash
..xyz V abc thread..... Would you buy another S3

Yep , Jassy would do.... I might test drive a manual just to see if I like it . I didn't this time as could not find one to test drive . But do like the stronic in traffic.
I might think about mag ride for softer ride when cruising. Other than that , yep I would

I have been completely won over by mine since ownership despite not really expecting to be. Have to say my fuel consumption is not that good with 29 mpg on a fast motorway drive about the best I've managed but still happy with that figure especially now fuel is so cheap.

Yes there are faster and better handling cars out there but what the S3 nails is the ownership experience and feel good factor. The interior although appearing 'plain' on first glance is a real grower.

3,900 miles, owned since July 2015 and predominately short journies so 22.4 mpg overall.

A great car in my humblest of opinions.
