This morning I was home, I heard a lot of sirens and heard some tyre screeching. A ford ka came screaming into my drive and rear ended my a3 1.8t as you can imagine I'm fuming. The little scroat was caught after a foot chase. Police have told me he is banned from driving no license and no insurance. My a3 has got a ruined rear bumper and smashed light. The ka was destroyed and was lifted out of my garden by recovery. I'm insured by Admiral although I have a crime number I'm hesitant to call them as I fear il lose my no claims. Has this happened to anyone who can advise what to do?
Thanks

Check with Admiral, some insurance companies do offer protection against uninsured drivers without affecting your insurance too much, and Santa, Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are all real:whistle2:

Cheers. I think il have to stump it. Driven it feels a bit odd. Maybe has snapped a spring? Hopefully not bent my rear beam. ******** I have spent fortunes on this car. Probably sue me for whiplash lmao that's the world we live in I'm afraid.

Hi Mark. The Police should have recorded the collision as well as the crime of the theft. If the KA was stolen it still may have been insured by the owner. When you insure your car against theft it may cover things like this. It would depend on that. Speak to your insurance company. They'll get the details of the KA from the Police collision report. That may be to much hassle for them and they may just pay out for your car themselves. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks, the police have told me the ka is insured. I have being given a crime number. They advised me it depends on the policy if it covers my situation. I feel like it's double jeopardy. If I make the claim I can't go back, and maybe lose everything.. I'm tempted to pay for the repairs myself although it goes against the grain. Il let you know how I get on.

Just tell your insurance company and let them deal with it.

Personally I would advise against this before you know exactly what the repercussions might be... Phone them and try get a bit more information on how they would deal with such "incidents" but as soon as they know there is an "incident" they may raise your premium even if you choose not to claim. They're proper sneaky ******** like that!

And lets face it, you'll be able to get a light and a bumper from a scrappy for under a hundred quid or so...

yep, it's been a story well told on watchdog. The mere mention of an incident and it goes on record and WILL affect your future discount regardless of whether they pay out or not. I'm sure one of the questions when applying for a car quote is ...have you ever been involved in an accident (regardless of fault).

I had a chip in my windscreen, was there when I bought the car... I phoned to ask about how getting it repaired might effect my no claims or if it would effect my premium at all next year, and the first question was "when did the incident happen". . . I was very insistent that there was no "incident" but the conversation was going nowhere without an incident for them to report, I just had to hang up in the end!

unless you have protection against uninsured drivers you will loose all or some of your no claims depending on how many years you have. Any claim made against uninsured drivers will be funded by the motor insurance bureau however it could take a year for your insurance to be paid out but your no claims will be reinstated & if you are persistent enough (like i was) you'll able to get any new premium recalculated to include your reinstated no claims...usually a partial refund. You'll also get your excess back.

Thanks guys,
I have mulled it over, I wont contact my insurer because of the above reason's. I have purchased the mechanical parts i need. https://www.flickr.com/photos/132627890@N02/23750106044/in/dateposted-public/
I have bought a rear light (fitted) cost me £25 from a breaker. upon inspection the damage is both rear springs snapped at the top, One rear bush torn out almost. I have looked for a rear bumper same colour to no avail, Looks like a brand new one and respray prob around £250.
I spoke to the police who informed me the little idiot was released after 3 hours on bail. I can't believe someone can ruin my car costing me hundreds and get a slap on the wrist.. Anyone know a good audi breaker in the uk? If i could avoid the new bumper and respray it would help. As you can see from my photostream i have pretty much rebuilt the car over the last year, otherwise i would have sold it for spares.

S3s3

I have found this beast, new K04 fitted ect for £1500, Its a steal.
The mot expired in september but its minor things. its got 170,000 is the downside.
Mot failed on -
nearside Front position lamp(s) not working (1.1.A.3b)
offside Headlamp aim too far to the right (1.8)
nearside Headlamp aim too high and too far to the left. (1.8)
Headlamp cleaning device inoperative (1.7.2)
rear Headlamp levelling device obviously defective (1.7.2)
nearside front Suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement large bush (2.4.G.2)
nearside rear coil spring broken (2.4.C.1a)
offside rear coil spring broken (2.4.C.1a)
nearside rear Tyre has ply or cords exposed (4.1.D.1b)
Should i just buy this and use the other vehicle for parts?

buy this nice S3 and report the damage to the other car they will write it off then buy it back off them for a couple hundred.
