Headlamp Removal (A4 B7 cab)

now that's a simple answer, and you cant beat a nice simple answer.:yahoo:

It's basically the shape of the bottom of the headlights that won't go over the top of the bumper. I know some people have been able to change them when aftermarket headlights have been fitted......but now OEM ones.

yep, renault / citroen / puegot , lol....

now come on chap, you dont need to worry about what they are raving on about, the pics are all you need, its all self explanatory mate.....

you are correct ,it's one of those jobs that due to it being a big old bumper and to remove it, the whole job seems a lot more difficult than it really is.

I am finally coming to terms that it is inevitable. Another question you may know. Are hid bulbs a straight swap or are they like Xenon and require other modifications

You do need help I fear. HID & Xenons are the same thingys, just different terminology.
What town are you in? no shame in asking for local help.

I say I was a total noob. I'm not needing to remove the bumper yet. But wanted to know so when the time comes I will have all the info I need. But regarding lamps I'm lost. I have a set of LED side lights coming but hoping to fit them with small hands. Just wanted to know when a bulb goes what my options are.

You should be fine doing the side lights as even I can do them with big sausage fingers.....but you will need resistors so they don't throw up an error, flash and turn off.

As for the bumper it is really easy to do.....but must be a little daunting if you are a noob. But as @Soot1 has asked, where are you in the UK as you will be surprised how helpful people can be.

I am getting my side light LEDs from t8ups. Will plug straight in with no errors so I have been told. I am based over in West London. I have already had quite a bit of tec help from the site. It's great to be part of it.

I had t8rups led's as well, they are nice and white, with no errors. When you come to fit them, don't touch them with your bare fingers, use latex gloves. You should be able to fit the sidelights without removing the bumper, a pair of long nose pliers will help but you have to be gentle with them or you'll break the bulb holder. The bulb holder will pull straight out, so no need to twist or unscrew these.

Many thanks for the heads up and advice.

Those LED side light bulbs from T8ups are indeed error free...just make sure you push them in securely.

As for the removing the side light bulb holders....well, you may find they are quite stuck in the headlamp, and therefore need "more" than a firm tug. I had to really pull on the wires (and swear a lot) before they finally came out. Nuff said.
.

and you can get hids fitted without taking the bumper off
quite fiddly but can be done.

a much cleaner install with bumper off tho.

i may have missed the boat on these led's , is there a link to some definative info on them , i have xenons as factory fitment but these led's sound like a nice touch.

I just picked up from other posts that the best LED bulbs to get were from a member T8ups, so I contacted him for a set.

I swapped my DRL and sidelights for LED a few weeks ago. Because I am butterfingered, I dropped a DRL bulb inside the headlight and had to remove the bumper in order to remove the headlight in order to get the bulb out.

If you use the audizine link (I found it very helpful), you should have the job done in under 3.5 hours.

I purchased a set of long reach torx drivers (160mm+), you need a T25 or T30 in order to remove the headlight. Without a long reach to remove the Torx bolt, you won't get your headlights out.

Good luck!
