Thought I'd choosen obvious winter alloys but hey ho - maybe I need to get them painted? It's spray can black or plastidip yellow, the only choices currently in the garage.....

They will do for a couple of months tbh. I've never had winter tyres fitted to anything so I would think that your not going to spend on another set of expensive alloys I suppose.

If they keep you going and out of kerbs, walls and ditches, what is not to like, my S4 is running on 18" A4 alloys and winter tyres, maybe not as retro as your winter alloys, but maybe there are few more suitable Audi alloys available for S1. Mainland Europeans tend to stick with black steels in winter. Personally, this time I chose some "-1" VW alloys for wife's new Polo 1.2TSI SEL maybe due to having black steels on her last car and keeping them on for about 6 months a year, so this time, I up'd my game and chose some acceptable VW "-1" alloys as keeping them on for 6 months to include the bulk of the wet seasons which winter tyres "do" better than summers.
